🗳️📚 Democracy in Class Two! 📚🗳️

Today in our PD lesson, Class Two have been learning all about Democracy and what it means to have a voice and make a choice.

We put our learning into action by holding our very own class vote! Each child had the opportunity to vote for their favourite book, just like people vote to make important decisions in our community. 🗳️✨

We learned that everyone’s opinion matters, everyone gets a fair choice, and we respect the final result of the vote. ❤️

What a fantastic way to develop our understanding of British Values while celebrating our love of reading! 📖🌟

🍂 Harvest Festival Donations 🍂

As we prepare to celebrate Harvest Festival at St Thomas More, we would be so grateful for your support in donating non-perishable food items. 🌾🍎

We are collecting items such as tinned foods, pasta, rice, cereal, long-life milk, biscuits, tea, coffee and other cupboard essentials.

❤️ Please send any donations into school with your child, where they can be brought into class.

📅 All items will be collected on 19th October.

Every donation, big or small, is greatly appreciated. Thank you to all our wonderful families for helping us come together and celebrate the spirit of giving, gratitude and community this Harvest. 🍁🧡

🧶✨ Our First Ever Weaving Café! ✨🧶

A huge thank you to all of our wonderful parents who joined us for St Thomas More’s first ever Weaving Café!❤️

Instead of our planned Reading Café, Class 4 had the opportunity to showcase their Design and Technology work. The children have been learning all about weaving and different weaving techniques, and they were very excited to share what they have learned.

The children then headed into the hall to continue practising their weaving techniques — and it was fantastic to see so many of our parents getting involved too! 🧶👏

It was a lovely afternoon filled with creativity, learning, teamwork and lots of smiles. Thank you to everyone who came along and helped make our first Weaving Café such a special one! 🌟

It was fantastic to see our Going for Gold in action today! The children did a brilliant job testing each other and checking how securely they know their times tables facts 🔢💪

It was wonderful to see such great teamwork, determination and enthusiasm as they challenged themselves and each other.

Today, Class Two have been introduced to our new book, Douglas’ Deep Sea Dive! 🐠🐙 The children enjoyed ordering the key events from the story and using their understanding to think carefully about what happened first, next and last.

We have had some fantastic conversations, with the children confidently sharing their ideas, listening to one another and explaining their thinking. What a brilliant start to our new English text! ⭐📖

A huge congratulations to our fantastic Year 5/6 Football Team, who competed in the cluster tournament tonight.

The team played some amazing football throughout the evening, showing brilliant teamwork, determination and skill. They won every one of their games and finished the tournament as champions, bringing the trophy back to school!

We are incredibly proud of every member of the team. A fantastic achievement and a very well-deserved victory. Well done, everyone!

A huge well done to our fantastic Year 3/4 Tag Rugby Team, who represented our school at the cluster tournament last week.

We were so proud of the way the children worked together, encouraged and supported one another, and gave their very best in every game.

🌹🙏 **Praying the Rosary in October** 🙏🌹

Class 3 and Class 4 are looking forward to coming together throughout the month of October to pray the Rosary.

October is traditionally dedicated to the Holy Rosary, and the children are excited to spend time in prayer, reflecting on the mysteries of the Rosary and growing closer to God. ❤️

We look forward to making this a special and prayerful month together. 🌹✨

🌿📚 English in action!📚🌿

Today in English, we read a wonderful, vivid and descriptive account of **Chaya running through the jungle. We explored the language used by the author and identified some fantastic examples of personification, bringing the jungle to life through words.

We then used the description to create our own pictures of what we imagined the jungle looked like. 🌴🐒🌺 The children carefully selected details from the text and transformed the words into colourful, imaginative scenes.

A fantastic lesson combining reading, language and creativity!🎨✨

🐻💛 What a lovely Buddy Assembly we had today! 💛🐻

Our Year 6 children had a wonderful time welcoming their new Reception buddies and sharing some of the interesting facts they have learnt together. It was fantastic to see the excitement and enthusiasm from both our Year 6s and our little Reception children! 🌟

There were some very excited faces when our Reception children received their very own memory bear. 🧸💕

We look forward to seeing these special bears again in 7 years’ time, when their little owners become Year 6 children themselves! What a lovely memory to treasure. 🥰
