⚽📚 This morning, we were delighted to welcome Matt Oldfield, author of the hugely popular Ultimate Football Heroes series, to Queensbury!

Matt delivered a brilliant assembly for our Year 7 and Year 8 students, sharing his passion for books and the story of how he began writing and developed the series with his brother.

The books are firm favourites here at Queensbury and a fantastic read, so it was a real treat to hear from one of the authors behind them!

Thank you, Matt, for taking the time to meet our students, share your story and sign their books.

💚 Today, our staff are wearing green ahead of World Mental Health Day tomorrow. We started the day with a walk and talk, taking time to connect before continuing the conversation with our students about looking after our mental health.

Our thoughtful students have been spreading kindness too, making these beautiful posies for staff! 💐

🥾 Silver expedition success!
Congratulations to our students who completed their Duke of Edinburgh’s Silver assessed expedition over the weekend!

They all did a fantastic job, and we’re very proud of their efforts. Their final step is to present their expedition aims before this section can be signed off.

Well done, everyone!

🏓 More table tennis success for Queensbury!
Following our Year 10 boys’ District Champions title, our Year 10 girls put in a fantastic performance at their District Championships, finishing joint top with Fulbrook!

Competing against five other schools, all seven players won several singles matches, earning the team a place at the County Championships in Bedford this November.

The girls will now join our boys at the county competition. We’re incredibly proud of both teams. Well done, girls! 👏

🏓 District champions! Our Year 10 boys’ table tennis team came out on top in a fiercely competitive district tournament against schools from Dunstable, Houghton Regis and Leighton Buzzard.

All six boys earned points for Queensbury in the group stages, with three reaching the semi-finals. Theo and Callum then faced each other in an all-Queensbury final! After a close match, Theo became the individual District Champion, with Callum taking runner-up.

Queensbury also secured the team District Champion title and will now progress to the Bedfordshire County event later this year.

We’re very proud of all six boys, a fantastic achievement for the whole team. Well done! 👏 Mr Gurney

🌱 There’s been plenty happening in the Christina Scott Garden, thanks to our enthusiastic Gardening Club students!

Our Queensbury-grown potatoes have been dug up and put to good use. Craft Club turned some into tasty chips, sampled by students, Mrs Palmer and Mrs Mason, and used damaged potatoes for printing. The remaining potatoes and garlic have gone to Cookery for students to use in lessons.

Students have also tidied the pond area and made lavender pouches from blooms grown in the garden. Next, we’re planning a sensory area and working with The Forest of Vale to explore support for trees, an orchard and some much-needed shade.

We’re delighted that the garden has already received a commendation from Dunstable in Bloom for Best Schools / Young Persons Project. A lovely recognition of everyone’s hard work, especially at this early stage. Well done to all involved! 👏

🧪 Our Year 7 scientists have been exploring density in Science Club! They made a density column to see how different substances form layers, with less dense substances floating above the denser ones.

A lovely way to see science in action, well done, Year 7! 👏

⚽ It’s been a busy term for football at Queensbury, with more success to celebrate!

Last week, our Year 7 boys played their first match together as a team, taking on a strong Gilbert Inglefield side in the County Cup. They secured a fantastic 7–5 win and are now through to the next round!

Congratulations, a brilliant start. We look forward to cheering you on in your next match! 👏 Mr Jones

⚽ Two goals down with just 10 minutes left, our Year 8 boys kept pushing and earned their place in the second round of the Beds County Cup!

Away at Gilbert Inglefield, Alex started the comeback with a lovely strike before Nichita equalised from outside the box with just a minute to go. Mylo provided the assist for both goals.

With the match level at 2–2, it went straight to penalties. Pharell, Alex and Leo all scored, while a great save from Oktawian helped secure the win and keep the boys’ unbeaten start to the year going.

Well done, you kept believing and worked hard for each other right to the end! 👏
