All committee positions ( Convener, Secretary, Treasurer and ordinary committee members) will be up for reelection.
Being on the committee doesn't have to be a big commitment, all help and support is appreciated and enables us to continue to care for Lochend Woods so come along and find out more.

It’s been quite a week with my canine sidekick being under the weather. Emergency vet trips and a lot of toing and froing from the vets. Seems to be on the mend now - tail wagging back in action, but we’ll see how she is once off meds.

Lovely afternoon with our Woodland Wednesday crew making cinnamon apple pancakes, batoning kindling, practicing our fire lighting skills, exploring the woods with our Forest school bears and a whole lot of hammocky shenanigans!
Love how making food in the woods brings everyone together! A great start to my favourite season!

Thanks to everyone that joined our forage and make walk in Lochend Woods in the rain as part of East Lothian Walkfest. We foraged nettle stems before a meander round the woods looking at other foragable goodies on offer in the woods. We processed our stems to make some twisted cordage and rewarded our efforts with herbal teas and some homemade bramble, cardamom and almond cake. The woodland was very atmospheric with low light, rain sounds on the tarpaulin and a perfect setting for some mindful making.

Wilder adults….Wilder are running a Forage and Make walk event on Friday in Lochend woods (9.15-12.15pm). It’s completely FREE as it’s part of the fabulous East Lothian Walking Festival (East Lothian Walkfest). We’ll be walking and foraging for different plants that can be used to make cordage (aka string). Think there are a couple of spaces still available if you fancy some mindful and curious wandering with tea and cake to fuel our feet and creativity!

A few snippets from this morning’s lovely Woodland wander for families in Lochend Woods. We made journey sticks to help us slow down and notice woodland treasures and berry jewels. I loved the tiny wren feather 🪶 , the spiky sweet chestnut seeds and the glossy elderberries. Our walk concluded with a hammock play, tea and cake.
Wilder will be hosting an adult walking event on Friday 28 August (9.15-12.15pm) in Lochend Woods / gathering natural fibres to make some cordage at the end of our wander. Head to https://www.citizenticket.com/organiser/east-lothian-walking-festival/ for info and free booking.

Hey, it’s nearly the weekend and Wilder are looking forward to hosting a free family event in Lochend Woods this Sunday 23rd August 9.30-11.30am as part of the East Lothian Walking Festival. Booking is open to Friday and the forecast looks perfect for a wee wander and wonder. There will be an opportunity for hammocks and refreshments at the end of our walk. Wilder are keen to support young people gain valuable life and work experience and we’re now looking for 2 x Duke of Edinburgh students (16 yrs+) to support our Friday Forest school sessions during term time. If you genuinely love spending time outdoors and nature and feel like you might want to progress in a career working with children get in touch!
