Full disclosure… this post is probably as much for me as it is for anyone reading it. 😂
I’ve definitely been in a bit of a rut with my own training recently. It’s so easy to put yourself at the bottom of the list when life is busy — and if I’m honest, that’s exactly what I’ve been doing.
Today I had a cancellation and had a choice:
I could have caught up on the housework, done some admin, scrolled social media, tackled one of the many jobs I’ve been putting off… or I could actually use the time to do something for myself.
Thankfully today (and unlike the previous few weeks), I chose the workout 💪
But it reminded me of something I tell my clients:
You don’t need to do everything. You just need to start somewhere so if you’re feeling a bit stuck at the moment, here are three things I’d focus on:
💧 Water — gradually increase your intake. Aim for around 2–3L a day eventually!
🚶♀️ Steps — look for little opportunities to move more. Park further away, walk at lunchtime, get off the bus/train a stop earlier, stick a podcast/ audio book on and go for a walk. Aim for 8–10k if that’s realistic for you.
💪 Movement/ Training — ideally 2–3 sessions a week, but if you’re currently doing nothing, start with ONE. Even 20-30 minute youtube video counts.
You don’t need to completely transform your lifestyle overnight.
And please don’t compare your real, messy, busy life to someone’s carefully selected 30 seconds on Instagram.
Sometimes winning looks like getting your workout done. Sometimes it looks like getting the kids to school with the correct shoes. Sometimes it looks like drinking more water. Sometimes it looks like simply getting through the day. 😂
Just make ONE change today. Hopefully, another healthier habit will follow… and then another.
That’s exactly what I’m going to try to do too. 💗💙
