Our Year 2 scientists have had a fantastic half term investigating habitats and microhabitats! ๐ŸŒฟ๐Ÿ”
They have loved exploring and comparing the habitats found around our school with those on the coast of Australia. It has been wonderful to see such enthusiasm and curiosity throughout their learning.
We have especially enjoyed seeing the children take their learning beyond the classroom by creating bug hotels and microhabitats in their own gardens, observing the creatures they discovered, and bringing in their amazing creations to share with the class. The children have also produced thoughtful labelled drawings of the animals they found, showing their growing scientific knowledge and observation skills. ๐Ÿž๐Ÿชฑ๐Ÿฆ‹
We are so proud of their excitement for science and cannot wait to see what our young scientists are inspired to do next! โœจ๐Ÿงช

This week, the children in Year 4 have used David Hockneyโ€™s digital landscapes as an inspiration to help them create their own digital artwork. They have used digital tools to build layers and arranged visual elements to develop a landscape composition.

Happy 100th Birthday to Sir David Attenborough! ๐ŸŒ๐ŸŽ‰

This week, our Science Ambassadors have been supporting the school in learning more about the incredible life and work of Sir David Attenborough. They have been finding and sharing resources online, and one of our ambassadors, Shivyaa, even created her own book celebrating his life and achievements. ๐Ÿ“šโœจ

The week finished with a very special assembly led by Picture News, where our children joined nearly 1 million other children to celebrate Sir Davidโ€™s inspiring legacy. They were also joined by guest star Steve Backshall, who spoke about how Sir David has inspired both himself and generations of people to care for our planet. ๐ŸŒฑ๐Ÿพ

The assembly ended with an inspiring message from Steve, encouraging children to start telling their own animal stories. He reminded them that Sir David Attenboroughโ€™s journey began with newts in his local pond โ€” and that they too can begin by exploring the wildlife in their own gardens and local environments. ๐Ÿธ๐ŸŒฟ

What a wonderful way to celebrate a truly remarkable person who continues to inspire us all to protect and care for the natural world. ๐Ÿ’š
