🍎🥪 Benedict's Law and Keeping Our Children Safe 🥪🍎

As we begin the new school year, we would like to remind all parents and carers of the importance of allergy awareness when preparing packed lunches.

From September 2026, Benedict's Law introduces new allergy safety requirements for schools across England. Benedict's Law requires schools to have clear allergy policies, staff training, emergency procedures, and access to life-saving medication. Most importantly, it reminds us all that allergies can be life-threatening and that everyone has a role to play in keeping children safe.

To support our allergy-aware environment, we kindly ask families to ensure that:

🚫 No nuts or nut-containing products are brought into school.

This includes:
• Peanuts and tree nuts
• Peanut butter and nut spreads
• Nut-based cereal bars
• Chocolate spreads containing nuts
• Any products listing nuts as an ingredient

Alongside this, we encourage children to bring healthy, balanced lunchboxes containing plenty of fruit, vegetables, and nutritious foods to help them learn, grow, and thrive throughout the day.

By working together and being mindful of the food we send into school, we can create a safer environment for all children, especially those living with severe allergies.

🍎📚 Welcome Back! 📚🍎

We are looking forward to welcoming all of our children back to school on Thursday 3rd September.

⏰ All children should arrive by 8:50am.

A very special welcome to our new Reception and Pre-School children and families. We can't wait for you to join our school community and begin your journey with us.

Please remember that Reception and Pre-School children should attend according to the days and times previously discussed with teachers.

As we say goodbye to Year 6, it's hard to believe how quickly the time has flown. What an incredible journey it has been, filled with laughter, learning, friendships, and memories we'll treasure forever.
To all the amazing children: you should be so proud of everything you've achieved. Watching you grow in confidence, kindness, and resilience has been a privilege. You're ready for your next adventure, and we know you'll do amazing things in secondary school.
Wishing our Year 6 class every success, happiness, and excitement for the future. Keep believing in yourselves, be kind, work hard, and never stop being you.
Good luck, Year 6—you'll always have a special place in our hearts. 💙🎓✨

What a brilliant day at the Year 6 Box Car Rally! 🚗💨

Today, schools from across the Rivers came together to put their creativity, teamwork and engineering skills to the test. From cooking and costumes to mechanisms and the structure of the box cars, our Year 6s absolutely smashed it!

🐾 Dudley Wood 1 solved the case with their amazing Scooby-Doo theme, transforming their box car into the iconic Mystery Machine with the whole gang along for the ride. 🐕💚

🤠 Dudley Wood 2 took us to infinity and beyond with their fantastic Toy Story theme, creating an incredible box car inspired by the animation and bringing all their favourite characters to life.🚀🥔

We couldn't be prouder of our amazing Year 6 children. Their hard work, creativity and teamwork paid off with some fantastic achievements:
🏆 Dudley Wood 1 – Overall Box Car Rally Champions! 🎉
🏆 Dudley Wood 2 – Winners of the Textiles Award! 💥

A huge well done to every single child for representing our school so brilliantly. You all proved that with imagination, teamwork and a bit of cardboard, you really can drive your way to success! (And thankfully, no speeding tickets were issued! 😂)

☀️Year 6 Residential 2026 - aka The Great Heatwave Survival Camp! 📍

Well... we asked for sunshine and we certainly got it… Over 30°C every single day - who needs Spain when you've got log cabins and 43 overheated children?! 🙆🏼‍♀️💥

We kicked things off on Sunday with football, rounders and a very necessary mini water fight (which quickly turned into "soaking anyone in sight"). 💧Passport to the World had us orienteering around the site - special shoutout to Miss Trentham who absolutely lived her best life during this one! 🗺️📍

Monday brought canoeing, archery and abseiling 🛶🏹🧗- all going smoothly until a GIANT spider decided to join Miss Holyhead... inside her buoyancy aid 🕷️She nearly capsized the canoe and her screams are probably still echoing around the lake! Too hot for a campfire that night, so naturally we replaced it with launching water balloons at Mr Warrington instead 👏(he loved it... probably).

Tuesday was just as eventful with the giant swing (Mrs Biggs deafened Mr Warrington before they even reached the top, his ears are still ringing), Jacob's Ladder (teamwork at its finest!) and more orienteering. Mrs Passey's helmet completely flattened her hair - a true sacrifice for safety! 🪖 The day ended with a super sweaty disco, where no one left without glowing... and not in a glamorous way. 🕺💃 Year 6 then cheered on England in the World Cup……

By Wednesday, we were basically professional heatwave survivors. We tackled the trapeze, tested our survival skills, and somehow still had energy left to get home!☀️

An unforgettable trip full of laughter, teamwork, sunshine, and slightly too many litres of sun cream Year 6 - you smashed it! 🫵🎉

It has been a busy few weeks at Dudley Wood. The children have worked alongside two of our The Rivers CofE Academy Trust schools to share extraordinary experiences. Jubilee Park joined Pre-School for a Teddy Bears Picnic and we visited Summerhill Primary to explore farm animals. The children demonstrated all of our STAR values - we couldn't be prouder. 👏👏👏
