Last term, Chestnut Class held a private viewing in the school hall to showcase their vibrant art project, 'Streetview' , inspired by the colourful and imaginative work of James Rizzi. There was a fantastic turnout, with lots of family and friends coming along to support the children. Chestnut Class were thrilled to welcome their visitors, proudly serving squash to their families before excitedly showing off their colourful artwork.

It was a wonderful celebration of their creativity and hard work, and everyone enjoyed sharing in the children's achievements. Well done Chestnut Class 💙

🌏✈️ Willow Class Flew to New Zealand! 🇳🇿

Last term, Willow Class embarked on an exciting learning journey to New Zealand! Upon their arrival, the children proudly waved their New Zealand flags before visiting the New Zealand Tourist Board, where they were warmly welcomed by Mr and Mrs Wilson.

The children were captivated by a fantastic presentation about New Zealand, also known as The Land of the Long White Cloud. They learned all about the country's customs and culture, traditional foods, breathtaking mountains, native wildlife, and the Māori language. Willow Class discovered how to greet others with Kia Ora, count to ten in Māori, learned that the Māori word for food is kai and were fascinated to find out that New Zealand has no snakes or dangerous animals. They also enjoyed learning about the country's famous native bird, the kiwi, along with other unique wildlife.

To give the children a true taste of New Zealand, Mr and Mrs Wilson brought along authentic Kiwi treats for everyone to try, including Fairy Bread and Lolly Cake, which were thoroughly enjoyed by the class. Later in the week, the children had the opportunity to make their own Fairy Bread with the support of our wonderful work experience students.

A huge thank you goes to Mr and Mrs Wilson for sharing their knowledge with the children and for bringing treats for the children to try! Their inspiring visit gave Willow Class an unforgettable insight into life in New Zealand and created memories that will last for years to come. What an incredible adventure!💙

Last term, Willow Class boarded another exciting flight and travelled all the way to Lima, Peru! ✈️🌎

The adventure began with lots of fun at passport control before boarding the plane. During the flight, the children enjoyed refreshments, which were served by Mr Edwards, who did a fantastic job as a member of the cabin crew!

The excitement continued as the children enjoyed role-playing as Passport Control Officers and flight attendants. While exploring deepest, darkest Peru, they stumbled across Paddington Bear, who told them he was very hungry. The children knew exactly what to do! they made him his favourite marmalade sandwiches! 🍊🥪

With the help of Mrs. Bradley, the children carefully followed a set of instructions to make their own sandwiches, which they enjoyed during snack time. They also impressed everyone by writing their own sets of instructions, demonstrating their growing confidence and independence in writing.

The Peruvian adventure didn't stop there! The children boarded another flight, taking an internal journey to visit the famous Nazca Lines, with Paddington joining them along the way. Inspired by what they had learned, they created their own spectacular playground artwork, proudly naming it 'The Draycott Lines.' Their imaginative drawings were simply fantastic!

The children thoroughly enjoyed bringing their learning to life through role play, creativity, teamwork and hands-on experiences. What an incredible adventure around Peru! 🇵🇪💙

Last term, Willow Class explored Nigeria! 🇳🇬

Their journey began by checking in at passport control, where they proudly showed their passports before boarding their "flight." Once on board, they enjoyed refreshments served by Mr Edwards as cabin crew and prepared for an exciting learning adventure.

After landing, they discovered the fascinating savanna, learning about its hot climate, vast grasslands, and the amazing animals that call it home. The children also explored Mount Zuba, finding out about Nigeria's varied landscapes and comparing them to places they know in the UK.

Throughout the term, the children immersed themselves in Nigerian customs and culture. They learned about traditional clothing, colourful celebrations, music, dance, food and the importance of family and community. They enjoyed listening to African music, exploring traditional patterns and artwork and learning how life in Nigeria is both similar to and different from our own.

The children had a fantastic time in their journey to Nigeria and were very engaged in learning all about the Nigerian culture! Well done Willow Class 🌍💚

Last term brought us plenty of sunshine, and we made the most of the warm weather while keeping cool and safe! ☀️💦

The children enjoyed lots of exciting activities designed to help them beat the heat. We dipped our feet into trays of refreshing cold water, cooled down with delicious ice lollies and spent time enjoying calm indoor play during the hottest parts of the day. We had plenty of opportunities to stay hydrated and finished some of the hottest days with some fantastic water fights at After School Club!

It was wonderful to see so many memories being made while looking after ourselves in the sunshine🌞💙
