🦆💙 A very special welcome to 15 new feathered residents!
Today, our lake at Channels & Choices became home to 15 ducks, thanks to the kindness of Clare, who works in one of our children's homes. Her thoughtful contribution has added even more life to our beautiful surroundings.
It's wonderful to see our outdoor spaces continue to thrive - for the benefit of our wildlife, the children in our care, and everyone who visits.
Thank you, Clare, for helping make our lake an even more special place. Here's to happy ducks, peaceful walks, and plenty of quacks! 🌿✨

💙 𝗧𝗵𝗶𝘀 𝗶𝘀 𝗦𝗮𝗹𝗹𝘆𝗴𝗮𝘁𝗲.
There are days in the school calendar that remind you exactly why you do this job.
Sports Day is one of them.
From the outside, it might look like a day of races, medals and friendly competition. But for us, it's always been about so much more.
It's about the child who decides to have a go when they weren't sure they could.
The child who encourages a friend to keep going.
The smile at the finish line.
The quiet moment of pride after achieving something they never thought possible.
Those are the moments that stay with us.
Watching our pupils support one another, celebrate each other's successes and simply enjoy being together was a wonderful reminder of what makes our school so special.
To our incredible staff, thank you. The encouragement, patience and belief you show every day create the confidence our children need to take those first steps, whether that's on a running track, in a classroom or somewhere else entirely.
To our parents and carers, thank you for joining us, cheering from the sidelines and continuing to work in partnership with us. Days like today are made even more special because they're shared with our wider Sallygate community.
As we looked around the field today, one thing became very clear.
Success isn't always about finishing first.
Sometimes it's about finding the confidence to start.
This is Sallygate.
A place where every child is encouraged, every achievement is celebrated and every success—no matter how big or small—is recognised.

🔧🎶 The Sallygate School Repair Shop is officially open! 🎶🔧
Our pupils, under the watchful eye of our amazing teacher Chris, have been putting their practical skills to the test by restoring a vintage 1970s Ferguson radiogram, complete with its original tuner and Garrard turntable.
From carefully stripping it down to repairing and restoring it to its former glory, they've brought this classic piece back to full working order! ✨
The restored radiogram has now been donated to Necessary Furniture where it will be sold to raise money for charity. 💙
A fantastic project that has helped our pupils develop hands-on skills, teamwork, problem-solving and pride in creating something truly special - all while giving back to the local community.
👀 This is just the beginning! Keep an eye on our page as we'll be sharing more exciting Repair Shop projects and restorations from our talented pupils in the coming weeks.

Alice and Heather's Forest Adventures at The Sallygate School have uncovered some exciting signs of nature at work! 🍄🦆🦎
We've discovered mushrooms growing, welcomed the ducks back for their regular visit, and even spotted some newts! Every trip outdoors is filled with opportunities to explore, learn, and connect with the natural world.
What will we discover next? 🌳💚

As we say goodbye to our incredible Year 11 leavers, we want to wish each and every one of you the very best for the future. 💙
Last week's leavers' celebration was a special way to mark the end of your journey at The Sallygate School – from the much-loved tradition of running through the famous Sallygate Arch, to enjoying a "picky bits" lunch with friends, signing shirts full of memories, and receiving your gift-wrapped leavers' hoodies.
We hope you leave with wonderful memories, lasting friendships, and the confidence to take on your next adventure. We are so proud of everything you have achieved and can't wait to see what the future holds for you.

💙 This is Sallygate.
Over the last few weeks, I've been thinking about what makes a school truly special.
It isn't the buildings.
It isn't the curriculum.
It isn't even the events that fill the calendar.
It's the people.
It's the relationships that are built day after day.
It's the moments that often go unnoticed—a child smiling because they've finally found the confidence to join in, a member of staff taking the time to listen, a classroom celebrating something that might seem small to someone else but means everything to that child.
Those are the moments that define a school.
As we begin sharing more of life at Sallygate, we don't just want to show you what happens here.
We want to show you who we are.
Over the coming weeks, we'll be opening the doors a little wider, sharing the everyday experiences that make our school such a unique place to learn, grow and belong.
You'll see Forest School adventures, enrichment activities, celebrations, healthy bodies, life skills, classroom learning, pupil leadership and so much more.
But more importantly, you'll see the children.
You'll see their achievements.
Their personalities.
Their resilience.
Their laughter.
Because every child has a story worth celebrating.
Thank you to our families and carers for trusting us to be part of your child's journey, and to our wider community for continuing to support everything we do.

🌊🦀 Alice & Heather's Forest School Adventures... ON TOUR! 🌿✨
Last week, Alice and Heather took Spruce Class from Sallygate School on an exciting trip to St Margaret's Bay for a day of rock pooling and seaside exploration.
The children loved discovering the fascinating creatures living beneath the rocks, learning about marine habitats, and experiencing the wonders of the natural world firsthand. From curious crabs to tiny sea snails, every rock turned over revealed a new adventure! 🐚🌊

Outdoor learning provides incredible opportunities for curiosity, confidence and connection with nature, and this trip was no exception. We can't wait to see where Alice and Heather's next Forest School adventure takes us!
