Last week we continued our mini beast topic.
Whilst making bumblebees 🐝 :
Beatrix said "I like honey on toast with banana"
Nellie said "I definitely like honey with yoghurt and porridge!"
Felicity said "I like honey on pancakes"

We also like to get the musical instruments out and for singing some songs. Musical instruments are very important in preschool because they help children learn through play, movement, and sound 🎡 🎢 πŸ₯ πŸͺ‡

This week at preschool the children have been learning about mini beasts and exploring the different features of insects, including legs, wings and antennae. The children used their creativity and problem-solving skills to build bug houses with magnetic resources and developed their fine motor skills by making their own clay snails.
On Friday, the older children took part in a yoga session linked to David Attenborough theme, encouraging movement, balance and mindfulness while exploring the natural world around us. The children were little seeds growing into trees 🌳

We will continue extending our mini beast learning and investigations next week.Maybe you could go on a bug hunt with your child and see what mini beasts you can discover together.πŸ›πŸž πŸ¦— πŸͺ²

Evelyn shared with us "Do you know what! My daddy shouted for me to come quick because he found a massive grasshopper!"

Theo and Tilly said there favourite mini beasts were ladybirds or some say ladybugs🐞

Another busy week here at Abbey Preschool. This week was dinosaur week. The children have been engaged in play learning all about herbivores and carnivores, different dinosaur names, discussing dinosaur features such as long necks, plates, horns, teeth and scales.
We had a dino den set up in our home corner. Children created their own role play narratives using clipboards, binoculars, magnifying glasses and hiding in the cave (table tent)
The weather has been kind and the sun has been shining. In the garden there has been painting, mud pie creations, a barbie and dinosaur washing station. Below your find some snapshots of the children learning through play 😊

A few snapshots of the children learning through play.

Play allows children to take existing knowledge and combine it in new ways, deepening their understanding of themselves and their environment.

Snippets from last week πŸ“·
Outdoor environments promote curiosity and critical thinking, such as understanding cause-and-effect for example mixing mud, stacking crates, using tools ).
It also creates a outdoor environment for role play. Florence, Freya and Elliot create their own train using the crates and bowls.
Theo uses the chalk boards at the mud kitchen to take food orders.
Wren uses the colinder to drop and make a sound known as trajectory schema. (exploring movement by force and direction by throwing and dropping objects)
Florence and Felicity are being busy builders writing out some plans.
