Before writing, comes PLAY.
All of the PLAY is actually work. Working to strengthen all the tiny muscles that are required to hold the pen.
At Little Learners we always focus on learning through PLAY and having fun!🫟

What happens at Little Learners Christchurch?
First we enjoy a regulating welcome using bubbles. Then we sing the hello song using key word signs from and meet that week’s Mark Maker.
The Little Learners (and their grownups!) are invited to make their mark with me in the tray containing a taste safe sensory base.
Then it’s time for the Little Learners to explore all of the different trays.
Mark making is encouraged but there is never any pressure for materials to be used in certain ways. It’s more about gaining confidence and having fun.
Learning to write starts with play 🫟

We used ooblek at Little Learners Christchurch for the first time this week!
It’s one of my favourites because of the strange way it acts.
Is it a liquid or a solid?? Ooblek is a special mix of both ✨ It’s called a non-Newtonian fluid because it breaks the normal rules of science.
The magical mix of cornflour and water acts like a solid when you squeeze it but melts to a liquid when you let it rest.
Also, if you leave it to dry out it becomes hard which creates another messy play opportunity!
We’ll definitely be using it again 💜🫟
