I remember well that feeling after doing my first wedding in August 2011.

I was absolutely exhausted, but equally buzzing! It had been an incredible experience. The seed was firmly sown! I had found something which I really enjoyed.

I was working for a big advertising and marketing agency in London at the time and my career was going well. It seemed bonkers that I would even contemplate giving it all up to become a photographer.

But I became so enthralled with it all, spending hours each evening, dreaming of making it happen.

I was determined to reach my goal but the challenge was duanting - I had no photography qualifications and I had never started my own business before.

So often I doubted myself and questioned what I was doing.

All I knew is I wanted to make it as a success - I was really determined to get to my dream.

So if you're an aspiring wedding photographer I understand 100% how you're feeling. I totally get the excitement of weddings, the attraction of being your own boss, and thrill of making something from scratch.

But I so so get how overwhelming it feels.

Hi fellow wedding photographers. Wow 2020 certainly hasn't gone the way everyone thought it would be. It was meant to THE year of years - one of the busiest for a long time. The golden year.

In a matter of weeks we've gone from trundling along as normal to total uncertainty. The whole coronavirus has knocked everyone of course and as wedding photographers we now face a time like no other.

I have myself felt a huge range of emotions and I'm still in a bit of shock of the prospect of the 2020 season being decimated. It's all pretty tough mentally. Feeling like that is OK!

I've been debating in my head what the role of DEVELOP is now. On paper we all have more time now and maybe this is the time for photographers to be looking at improvements to their brand strategy, marketing and online footprint. The time to make improvements using this new found time?

BUT I actually think it's not the time for that. I don't actually think this is the time to be expecting people to be in the frame of mind for this. Instead people are struggling to take this all in and the impact it's having. Just dealing with the endless requests to postpone become all consuming. There are so many worries, fears and questions. Sorting your website out is important but now isn't the right time.

With that in mind I've decided to open up FREE 1 hour 1-2-1 video sessions me this this week. These won't be coaching sessions but instead I will literally just be there as a supportive face to help you talk through how you're feeling and what you're facing now. We can talk about absolutely anything. I might not have the answers but I can certainly provide a listening ear (and hopefully some constructive thoughts to help you through this time).

With everyone facing financial difficulties now I've decided to make these sessions absolutely FREE. The wedding industry has served me well over the last 8 years and I'm keen to give back.

I will take sessions across Thursday 26th and Friday 27th from 9am to 4pm. So that's 12 sessions up for grabs over 2 days.

I launched DEVELOP 2 years ago and it's been an amazing start!

I've worked with over 20 different photographers so far, across the UK and even Melbourne, Australia!

I have loved helping photographers grow and develop and I can't wait to help more this year.

I've been using my main photo business account for DEVELOP (as running 2 accounts can be very time consuming!!) but that's going to be changing now and this account is going to be alive and kicking!

I am planning weekly Q and A's on here for anyone wanting some quick fire help! So look out for them!

I will be writing digestible thought pieces on my blog with practical tips for wedding photographers and in March I will be running my updated 'CREATING YOUR BRAND' course which I've had some amazing feedback on!

Introducing the ASPIRE & THRIVE workshop - created for aspiring wedding photographers who want to realise their dream!

I will share everything I've learnt in 6 years running Jonny MP Photography - from creating it from scratch in 2011 to now having a full diary of weddings year-on-year. I will tell you how I work at a wedding, how I work with my couples and tonnes of things I've learnt (often the hard way!) from shooting 200 weddings.
