Snappy Twigs Forest School

Sadly due to personal reasons we will not be running weekly forest school next term. We hope to run again after the the May half term (tbc).
In the mean time birthday parties are running once a month. A recent parent said after their child's party "I just wanted to say a HUGE thank you for XYZ's party. They and their friends had a great time and many parents commented on what a unique idea it was, different from many of the usual party's available for children their age." Parties are tailored to the child or teenager (even adult). There have been themes like pirates, bushcraft, Paw Patrol, fairies, Minecraft; no themes too. Different ages are catered for from little ones to any age.

The next slot available is June.

Due to popular demand, Tuesday and Friday dates are now up on the booking system. They start at 10:30 and finish at 12 and are open for pre-schoolers and younger, although older children can come too.

The talks Dorking MIND set up are interesting each month. The next one is something we know of already ;o)

Next Monday 19th Feb DorkingMinds session will be focussed on the power of nature to heal.
Paul Ritchie is a green prescriber and he will be sharing his knowledge on this fascinating subject. We don't always have to resort to costly drugs which sometimes have side effects.

I am pleased to say the Spring dates are up for Tuesdays starting a week after half-term, 27th February. We have a new start time of 10:30 finishing at 12. I have the held the prices from previous years for this term. Any questions, just ask.

Here is a hint on the theme:

Hmm I wonder what it is?

Answer - a dragon! Come and join us and celebrate the year of the dragon - avoiding dragons of course!

Come and join us for a dragon-seeking session in the woods!
There will be a range of activities including dragon hunt, making a dragon pendent, fire lighting, whittling, den making, paint a dragon painting or make a flag and other options. Weather permitting, they will help prepare a fire and cook something over it.
They can wear costumes but any long or dangly items like cloaks will need to be removed before sitting around the fire. Hair will also need to be tied up, so a hair band is needed.
First child is £8.50 and subsequent children are £6.50 each.
Adults and children under 1 years old are free. Children must be attended by one adult.

Snappy Twigs is on hold until February Half-Term. I will then confirm when the regular sessions are starting up again. This gives the area a time to rest before we run around it again.
There will be a February Half-term event on the 13th morning for all the family. Watch this page for more information.

Thank you for taking part in the different sessions, special events and parties last year. It was a lot of fun.

In winter life can be hard for animals – days are short and for many creatures finding enough food to survive takes up almost every hour of daylight. But there is still plenty of wildlife to spot.

We had a lovely session in the sunny woodland today. One family made a lion out of the leaves and this fun decoration. We played with water, dug around, made a fire and toasted apples on it, sat and chatted. Very relaxing. See you next week!

We had a lovely Autumnal session Tuesday. Some found worms, centipedes, black beetles, woodlouse, and even a beetle larvae under the seating logs. The hole dug by dogs to eat tree roots had filled with water and made sloppy mud pies. Some made rings, others wands and even a spider with pipe cleaners and leaves. Busy busy busy!
