🎉 2025/26 – That's a Wrap! 🎉

What a year it has been.

It’s taken a monumental effort from everyone involved to turn Shape House from an idea discussed around a kitchen table into the beginnings of a thriving Alternative Provision, supporting children and young people to grow, succeed and thrive.

From building, painting and fitting kitchens and toilets, to developing policies, procedures and everything else needed to get us up and running, this journey has been a true team effort.

A huge thank you to everyone who has supported us along the way, our colleagues in commissioning, schools, families and our wider community. Your encouragement, trust and belief in what we're building has meant so much.

But our biggest thank you goes to the young people who access Shape House. You are the reason we do what we do, and seeing your progress, resilience and achievements makes every challenge worthwhile.

We hope everyone has a fantastic summer. We'll be taking a few well earned holidays, recharging our batteries and getting ready for September. We can't wait to see Shape House continue to grow and support even more children and young people who need us.

Last week we visited the Animal House at Austerfield Study Centre & Community Hub, our young people had the pleasure of meeting a bearded dragon, corn snake, royal python, stick insects, a leopard Gecko and Dave, the friendliest tortoise in the world. Huge thank you to Nigel for facilitating the visit and telling us all about the different animals.

What our parents say....

Some of the young people we support have faced challenges and negative experiences in education. Our goal is to rebuild confidence, reignite a love of learning, and help them successfully reconnect with full time education.

We work closely with families, ensuring they have confidence in our provision and feel supported throughout their child's journey. Listening to parents and carers is a vital part of what we do, as together we help children and young people reengage with education, build resilience, and achieve positive outcomes.

We're always grateful to receive feedback from families, it reminds us of the difference that can be made when we work together.

At Shape House, we believe in Presence, Participation and Progress.

The first step on any journey is simply showing up, and we are incredibly proud of the young people who take that step every day.

As part of our daily feedback to families, commissioners and schools, we track both wellbeing and engagement. Over the last term, our young people achieved an average score of 4.3 out of 5, reflecting how comfortable, connected, emotionally regulated and actively engaged our young people are.

These outcomes help create an environment where young people don't just attend, they thrive. 🌟

As we reach the end of term and the end of our first year at Shape House Doncaster, we are incredibly proud of everything we have achieved.

What started as an idea just a year ago has grown into a place where children and young people can reconnect with learning, build confidence, and continue their educational journey.

We are especially proud of the impact we have made in such a short space of time. Our average attendance is 90%, this includes children and young people who have been out of education for over a year.

This is much more than attendance though. It reflects trust, resilience, relationships, and the determination of young people who have taken positive steps forward in their education and personal development.
