I was sent on Forest School practitioner training back in 2006 long before Forest School was a buzz word. However, the training was everything I did as a child. Making dens, using a knife (yes we all carried small pen knives) and lots more. I came back buzzing and couldn’t wait to start delivering sessions to the childcare students I worked with. If you want to start your journey with me, these are the last two courses I will ever deliver. After 10 years of delivering training, this year will be my last. Coaching is a powerful and effective process. Working with established practices and techniques, a new client this week has experienced a rapid and noticeable shift.

She came to me carrying grief like a heavy coat — always on, even when she didn’t mean to wear it.

She had created a belief that joy couldn’t exist alongside grief. She imagined her loved one lost, in a dark void, a black hole into which all her happiness had disappeared.

In one session, working with powerful, visual imagery, she started relating differently to the void and to the grief.

The tears still come, but now they bring tenderness, not terror. The black hole is now filled with the bright, shining light of her loved one. Her happiness is in there and she is beginning to reclaim it, piece by piece.

Her husband said he feels a new, positive energy coming from her now.

Watching someone make peace with their pain reminds me why I do this work. Healing isn’t about erasing the past — it’s about learning to walk with it differently.
