Our flowers are blooming lovely; cosmos, dahlias, coreopsis, calendula, French marigold and sunflowers all loving this weather ❤️ lots of jobs done tonight....we painted one of the sheds, put up our plantaura sign in the polytunnel, put up a large solar light on the nature hub, gave everything a good water and planted garlic and chard in the new mini beds ❤️ Thanka to Rose and Karen for all their hard work 😊

What a busy morning at Wild plant club but we managed to fit it all in ❤️ We didnt learn about a specific plant today as it was all about using some of the gluts of courgettes, apples and green tomatoes we have, so we made a "chuck it all in" curry spiced chutney using them along with some onions, celery and sultanas and everyone ended up with a jar full to take home. We each made a soft lipbalm using calendula and elderflower infused oil to take home too and filled our bellies with the last of this seasons rhubarb, sweated down with some apples, topped with oats, yoghurt and honey. We had the honour of Trishas mum joining us and the friends of the crags group came to have their sandwiches and w**e after all their hard work litterpicking. Janette from who is your neighbour also popped into meet us all and Lauren from well Doncaster came to tell us we are getting funding for 3 huge new lamppost style solar lights to help us see during the winter months!

Tonight's grow your own club....Rose gave everything a good water and karen packaged the chive and black hollyhock seed that weve saved to sow next year and give out to other groups. Then we started on homemade decorations for the polytunnel; rosehip beads and a string of chillies, they look so pretty ❤️

What are wonderful afternoon we had willowgarth hosting our equinox celebration with the beautiful Inner Sunshine ladies. We made autumnal flower crowns and ate delicious seasonal wholesome food, enjoyed a roaring fire and relaxing sound bath. Lots of hugs and smiling faces, perfect ❤️

Today's wild plant club was all about the beautiful hawthorn berry. We made a smoky hawthorn ketchup and ate it with hotdogs and made autumal spiced candles topped with dried flower petals ❤️ Did you know there are two main types of wild hawthorn in the UK; common and midland although they often hybridise between the two. Midland hawthorn berries contain two stones. Also, the nursery rhyme "here we go gathering nuts in May" is actually about "knots in May" which refers to bunches of Hawthorn blossom which were traditionally called knots. The ketchup was a labour of love, Francine definitely got an arm work out trying to mush the berries through the sieve so thanks to her for all her hard work and we found out that we really need stickers to help the wicks stay in the candles but they all turned out well in the end! ❤️

We've started saying goodbye to summer tonight by taking down all our tomato and melon plants from the poly-tunnel but just look at what's replaced them....our new classroom area! How good does that look! Now we have a lovely new space to run our homeschool sessions and nagural dye workshops which are both on the horizon. We also made a curry using the last of the tomato, courgettes and peppers and are saving all the green tomatoes to make chutney with....yum. Big thanks to Karen and Rachel for helping with clearing the poly-tunnel, Harriet for helping with the cooking and kimberely and oliver for putting the spent compost from the tomatoes into the new raised beds outside. Brilliant team work ❤️

It was a lovely evening at the grow club last night, Karen Birch was busy harvesting flowers for our upcoming natural dye sessions, Rose Sara Moran was busy weeding, Angela was sorting and we all picked grapes to make a mead.
In other news our resident squirrel has enjoyed a couple of ripe melons inside the polytunnel argh!.... I thought this is karma for the foraging lol .. we will have to share.

Then we enjoyed the sun setting and watched the bats flying around as dusk came in, can't wait for tomorrow will be nice to have a little food & fire and great company.

We had a lovely evening at the Denaby Wellbean Social Garden - Community Allotment
We weeded, planted some raddish seeds, cooked up Chicken Pesto Pasta thank you Kimberly for helping with the cooking,Trish bought homemade cake which was yummy Rose was busy cutting the grass and planting wild strawberries, Rachael and the girls and Trisha all tendered to the raised beds,
We had a wounderful harvest of fruit,veg to take home and flowers for our up coming natural dye sessions.
