As our Year 6 children reached the end of their journey at St Catherine's, we wanted to give them one final surprise to remind them just how loved they are. ❀️

At St Catherine's, we always try to go above and beyond to show our children how much they mean to us. Over the past few weeks, our staff have secretly been working together to create this Carpool Karaoke-style video as a special gift for our Year 6 leavers. We shared it with them on their very last day of primary school, and we hope it gave them lots of smiles, laughter and memories to treasure.

A huge thank you to every single member of staff who got involved and threw themselves into making this happen, and a very special thank you to our incredible Year 6 team, whose dedication, love and care for our children has been outstanding. We couldn't be prouder of the send-off they helped create.

We hope you enjoy watching it as much as we enjoyed making it! πŸŽ€πŸš—πŸ’™πŸ’›

✨ A huge shout out to our amazing St Catherine's staff! ✨

The summer holidays may have only just begun, but our incredible team were straight back in school today for our INSET day, working tirelessly to make sure everything is ready for September. From refreshing classrooms and creating beautiful displays to organising resources and planning exciting learning experiences, there has been so much happening behind the scenes.

One of the key parts of our school vision is to *create inspiring learning spaces*, and we're certainly working hard to bring that vision to life. We can't wait to welcome our children back into classrooms that are vibrant, engaging and ready for another fantastic year of learning, faith and growth.

A huge thank you to every member of our wonderful staff for your dedication, creativity and commitment. Your passion for giving our children the very best is what makes St Catherine's such a special place. ❀️

We'd also like to give a *very special shout out* to the amazing parents who have generously given up some of their first day of the summer holidays to come into school and lend a hand. Your kindness, time and support mean so much to us and are a wonderful reminder of what makes our St Catherine's community so special. Thank you! πŸ’™

🎢🎀 St Cathbury's Festival 2026! 🎀🎢

What a fantastic afternoon we've had at our very own St Cathbury's Festival! 🌟

A huge thank you to Mr Westbrook and our incredible Dad Band, who had everyone singing, dancing and celebrating together with a brilliant set of popular songs that created a true festival atmosphere across the school. πŸ’ƒπŸ•ΊπŸŽΈ

The afternoon also gave us the opportunity to again sing the special songs we created for Mrs Chidgey and Mrs Taylor, as we celebrate their retirement and thank them for the enormous contribution they have made to St Catherine's over so many years. ❀️

There really couldn't have been a better way to celebrate the end of another wonderful school year – with music, laughter, dancing and our whole school community together.

Thank you once again to Mr Westbrook and our amazing Dad Band for giving us such a memorable afternoon. What a way to finish the year! πŸŽ‰πŸŽΆπŸ’™

πŸ’™ A Prayer to Take Home πŸ™

As we reach the end of another wonderful school year, our GIFT Team and Caritas Ambassadors shared a beautiful act of kindness with our school community yesterday.

Over the past few weeks, they have thoughtfully written their own prayers, asking God to watch over our children and families during the summer holidays. At the end of the school day, they stood at the school gates and handed a prayer card to children and families leaving school.

It was a simple but meaningful way of sharing God's love and reminding us that, wherever the summer takes us, we are never far from His care.

A huge thank you to our GIFT Team and Caritas Ambassadors for showing such compassion, faith and service to others. We hope these special prayers bring peace, joy and God's blessings to all our families throughout the summer.

Our Year 3 children created their own *Positivity Pebbles* yesterday, each one decorated thoughtfully to spread kindness, hope and encouragement.

The designs they came up with are absolutely wonderful, and every pebble is a reminder that even the smallest act of kindness can make a big difference.

Well done, Year 3 – your creativity and compassion have certainly brightened our day! πŸ’™

On Wednesday afternoon, we held our annual 'Year 2's Got Talent!'. What a fabulous afternoon we had! We decorated the classrooms and lined our chairs up to be the perfect audience. We had keyboard players, Michael Jackson impersonators, science experiments, dancers, poets and many many more! 🌟🌟🌟

🌟 Proud of Our Year 5 Pupil Leaders! 🌟

Last week, some of our Year 5 pupil leaders represented St. Catherine's at the Manchester Safeguarding Partnership Children's Safeguarding Conference alongside pupils from six local primary schools.

The conference gave children the opportunity to share their views on important safeguarding issues, work with safeguarding professionals and learn from other schools.

Our pupils confidently delivered a news-style presentation on mental health and wellbeing, highlighting the importance of talking to a trusted adult and sharing the Five Ways to Wellbeing.

They were fantastic ambassadors for our school, representing St Catherine's with confidence, maturity and compassion. We are incredibly proud of them and look forward to seeing how their ideas develop before the schools come together again in 2027 to celebrate their safeguarding work.

Well done to everyone involved! πŸ’™πŸ’›

πŸ“š A huge achievement worth celebrating! 🌟

πŸŽ€πŸ›οΈ Yesterday, Marissa in Year 5 took part in a national heat of the Historical Association’s Talking History competition - and what an incredible job she did! πŸ‘

Marissa delivered a fantastic speech on her favourite local history event: the opening of Chetham’s Library, founded by Humphrey Chetham in 1653 πŸ“–βœ¨. She spoke passionately about her love of libraries and of Chetham's philanthropy in using his wealth to fund Chetham's Library, which is still open today.

🌟 The exceptional quality of her speech has earned Marissa a place in next week’s national final! 🌟

We are so proud of your hard work, passion, and confidence.
πŸ‘ Congratulations and good luck in the final, Marissa! πŸ€πŸ’™

✨ Yesterday, we were privileged to welcome Vicky, a member of our local community, to lead our assembly. ✨

As our core value this half-term is *Inspiration* 🌟, Vicky shared her story with us and showed exactly what that looks like in action. Despite facing many hardships in life, Vicky has met every challenge with incredible positivity, courage and resilience πŸ’›

Through her powerful message, Vicky helped us to understand that our differences are what make each of us unique and special 🧩 She also encouraged us to think about how we can be more supportive, understanding and inclusive of everyone around us 🀝

Vicky was a true inspiration to us all, and her words reminded us even more of our school mission: to β€œBe who God wants us to be and so set the world on fire.” πŸ”₯

Thank you, Vicky, for sharing your story and inspiring us all today πŸ’«
