⭐️ A Message from our Headteachers ⭐️

We can't quite believe that we have reached the end of term already! It has
been a really busy one, squeezing everything we normally do in a term into 5
short weeks. We are really glad to have seen the return of spring sunshine
and longer days, and to have seen the students enjoying all the
opportunities on offer.

Some highlights from this week include:

🏃‍♀️ House of Run kicked things off last Friday, with students earning points for their houses while enjoying a fun and lively afternoon together.

🏅 On Monday, our Year 7 athletics team headed to Icknield School, where they took part in a range of events and represented DGS with real enthusiasm and sportsmanship.

🎭 This week also saw Year 11 drama and dance practical exams, and we are incredibly proud of the maturity, focus and commitment they’ve shown, setting a fantastic example to younger years.

💼 Year 7 enjoyed their first careers experience with our Guess the Employer event. Students met professionals from a wide range of sectors and described the day as “fascinating”, “fun”, and “worthwhile”, with 20% even changing their dream job! Huge thanks to Mr George and all the employers who kindly supported the event.

🎶 On Tuesday evening, our RET Spring Concert brought together musicians from our partner primary schools alongside SBS and DGS students. The performances spanned a stunning range of musical styles, showcasing exceptional talent. Thank you to the Friends of DGS for running a successful fundraising raffle.

💃 And finally, Thursday’s Dance Showcase at the Cornerstone Theatre shone a spotlight on our GCSE and A‑level dancers. The standard was outstanding - full of creativity, teamwork, and impressive choreography. A big thank you to Mrs Hook and Miss Druce for preparing the students so beautifully.

A huge well done to everyone involved this week - you continue to make our school proud! 🌟
