Is your child struggling with money skills? Make a little shop and practice buying things with a budget. Keep it simple to start, by only using pounds or pennies for example. Discuss how you can work out if you have enough money or how much change you might get.
They use their knowledge of addition, subtraction, partitioning amounts and solving word problems on top of the money skills they practice! And they have fun 😄💷

I am passionate about helping young children achieve their academic potential. As a qualified teacher I know how important it is to help children become skilled readers, writers and mathematicians. Some children benefit from extra support at home to grow and consolidate their knowledge in some of these areas, but it might be daunting for parents to know where to start.

I have experience in supporting children with phonics, reading, writing and maths. I use the National Curriculum requirements to assess any gaps in their understanding for these 4 areas. In collaboration with the parents, and based on the initial assessment, the areas to focus on are decided. Based on this, I create and provide tailored lessons and support to address gaps in the child’s learning and to help them become resilient and independent learners.
