A message from Mrs Underwood:

Dear Parents
I hope you and your children had a wonderful summer break and that they are feeling excited and ready for the first day back! Good luck for the start of the new school year — I’ll really miss being there and seeing their familiar faces, hearing their laughter and being part of their school adventures. ❤️

Mostly, though, I wanted to say a huge thank you for my absolutely wonderful send off and for your incredibly generous gifts. It was such a lovely surprise and meant more to me than I can say. My tree is still alive and thriving despite the hosepipe ban — so I’m taking that as a very good sign! 😂🌳

Thank you again for all your kindness, thoughtfulness and for making my send off so special. I feel incredibly lucky to have shared so many lovely moments with you and the children, and I’ll miss you all very much. ❤️

🌟 What a wonderful first week for our Reception children! 🌟

Our youngest pupils have had a fantastic start to life at Urchfont School. They have been busy getting to know our Urchfont Style routines, exploring their new classroom environment and, most importantly, making new friends.

A special shout-out must go to our wonderful Year 2 pupils, who have been excellent buddies. They have helped our Reception children choose resources, find their way around school and settle in, making them feel so welcome and part of our school family.

We are so proud of how well our Reception children have settled and can’t wait to have them with us for the whole day tomorrow! We’re sure they will continue to grow in confidence, have lots of fun and enjoy another exciting day of learning.

Then it’s time for a well-deserved, restful weekend!

🌟 Welcome Back to Urchfont School! 🌟

What an exciting time it is for our Urchfont School children, families and staff, as we begin a brand-new school year and start our journey together with three new classes!

Over the summer, our dedicated staff have been busy preparing, organising and setting up the classrooms, ready to create welcoming and inspiring spaces for our children to learn, grow and have fun.

We are so looking forward to seeing familiar faces, welcoming new ones and hearing the buzz of happy children back around school.

The classrooms are ready, the staff are ready — and we can’t wait to welcome you all through the doors tomorrow!

Here’s to a fantastic year ahead, full of learning, friendship, laughter and lots of exciting adventures.

What a fantastic day we had on our whole-school trip to Longleat!

The children enjoyed an exciting safari, a picnic together, a walk through Jungle Kingdom, and plenty of fun in the adventure playground. It was a very warm day, so many of the animals were taking shelter in the shade during the safari, but we were lucky enough to spot most of them. The children had a wonderful time, showing enthusiasm, resilience and excellent behaviour throughout the day.

We are incredibly proud of how well the children represented our school. They were a credit to themselves, their families and our school community.

A huge thank you to all of our staff and volunteers who gave up their time and worked so hard to make this memorable experience possible. Your support helped create a day full of smiles, laughter and lasting memories for our children.

🐾 An Amazing Achievement! 🐾

We are incredibly proud to share that the children of Urchfont Primary School have raised a fantastic £2,019 for their chosen charity, the RSPCA!

This fundraising effort truly reflected the power of pupil voice. The children voted to choose the charity they wanted to support before taking part in a whole-school sponsored walk. It was a wonderful event, filled with enthusiasm, teamwork and determination.

A huge thank you goes to all our families and friends for their incredible generosity in sponsoring the children. Your support has helped make a real difference to a cause that means so much to our pupils.

We would also like to extend our sincere thanks to Mrs P, who organised this fantastic event, along with so many other successful charity fundraisers over the years. Your dedication is greatly appreciated.

At Urchfont Primary School, we strive to live out our school values every day, and this fundraising effort is a wonderful example of Compassion in action. We couldn't be prouder of our children for showing such kindness, commitment and community spirit.

🌟 What a fantastic start to the term we've had at Urchfont! 🌟

It's hard to believe how much we've already packed into the last few weeks, with so many enriching opportunities for our children to learn, grow and create lasting memories.

🥁 We kicked things off with an incredible African drumming workshop, where the children explored rhythm, music and culture through hands-on experiences. Even on one of the hottest days of the year, they gave it their all, participating with enthusiasm and representing our school with pride.

🏰 Our Family Group History Day took us on a journey through our local heritage. The children discovered the fascinating stories behind Caen Hill Locks, the Battle of Roundway Hill and the remarkable engineering of Isambard Kingdom Brunel. They then put their own engineering skills to the test through a range of cross-curricular activities, including designing and building bridges using spaghetti and marshmallows. In the summer heat, it certainly turned into a rather sticky challenge—but one that everyone embraced with smiles and determination!

🎶 Our Summer Music Concert was a wonderful celebration of the talent within our school. From confident solo instrumental performances to class showcases and our fantastic school bands, every child should be incredibly proud. We are so pleased that Rocksteady has become such a valued part of life at Urchfont. The energy and excitement that fills our music room every Thursday is infectious, and the concert performance was nothing short of outstanding!

🌈 We have also loved welcoming our new Reception children for their final transition visit before officially becoming Urchfont pupils. It has been a real pleasure getting to know both the children and their families, and Mrs Reynolds and Mrs Bayley-Kendall can't wait to welcome them properly into the Urchfont School family this September.

A huge well done to all of our children and staff for making these experiences so special. Although there are only a few weeks left of this academic year, there is still plenty to look forward to—most notably our whole-school trip to Longleat! 🦁🦒
