What an incredible day of rhythm and learning at school! 🥁🌍

Today, our children took part in an exciting African drumming workshop, where they had the opportunity to play traditional djembe drums and explore the rich musical heritage of Africa. Through rhythm, teamwork, and creativity, the children learned new drumming techniques and experienced the joy of making music together.

The hall was filled with energy, enthusiasm, and fantastic beats as everyone joined in. It was wonderful to see the children developing confidence, concentration, and a real appreciation for different cultures through music.

A huge thank you to our workshop leader for such an engaging and memorable experience! 🎶✨

It's almost that time of year again... the Summer Reading Challenge!

Each summer we challenge children to read 6 books. In return they get stickers - plus a medal and a certificate for completing the challenge. This year the theme is 'Read to the Beat', and to celebrate we'll be hosting lots of fantastic music-themed events in our libraries.

The challenge itself will launch on Saturday 4 July. We'll have more info soon, so be sure to keep an eye on our socials!

The Summer Reading Challenge is presented by The Reading Agency and delivered by libraries.

🎨🖼️ Grove House Infant School Art Exhibition 🖼️🎨

Throughout the month of June , families are warmly invited to visit Dereham Windmill to view a special exhibition showcasing the wonderful artwork created by our Reception, Year 1 and Year 2 children.

The artwork was produced during National Art Day and inspired by the styles and techniques of world-famous artists Salvador Dalí, Andy Warhol and Wassily Kandinsky. Our young artists explored creativity, colour, pattern and imagination to create their own unique masterpieces.

We encourage all parents, carers and children to visit the exhibition and celebrate the fantastic artistic achievements of our pupils.

Reception had a wonderful time at their Maths Café this week, exploring shapes through creativity and art! 🔺🟦🎨

The children enjoyed experimenting with different 2D shapes to create their own unique artwork, while developing their understanding of shape, pattern, and design in a fun and engaging way.

A big thank you to all the parents and carers who attended and supported the session. It was lovely to see so many families learning, creating, and enjoying maths together! 😊

This week, Year 2 enjoyed a fantastic Maths Café with parents and carers joining us in school to support the children’s learning about fractions. 🍕➗

The children worked hard to create their own fraction pizzas, focusing on finding and understanding quarters. It was wonderful to see so much enthusiasm, teamwork, and mathematical thinking taking place throughout the session.

Thank you to all the families who attended and helped make the event such a success. We love seeing parents and children learning together and sharing a positive experience with maths! 😊

The children have been learning about equal sharing and had lots of fun creating their own paper pizzas to help them explore halves and fair sharing. It was wonderful to see so many families engaging with maths learning in school and working together so enthusiastically.

The children were so proud to share their learning — and we loved seeing maths brought to life through such a fun activity! 😊
