Getting your team first-aid trained should not mean trying to coordinate multiple course dates, send people off-site one by one or lose a full day of productivity. 💚
At Act Fast Derby, we can bring practical, hands-on first-aid training directly to your workplace — on a date that works for your team.
From CPR and defibrillator use to choking, burns, bleeding and recovery position, we make sure your staff leave with useful skills and the confidence to act if something happens.
Group training is not about ticking a box. It is about helping more people feel prepared, building confidence together and making your workplace a safer place to be.
We also offer group-booking options, so training your whole team can be more straightforward and better value than arranging separate courses.
DM us “WORKPLACE” and we will send over a tailored quote for your business.

If someone collapsed in front of you, would you feel confident using a defibrillator? 🏥
A lot of people think an AED is only for trained professionals — but it is designed to be used by members of the public in an emergency. Once switched on, it gives clear voice and visual instructions, tells you where to place the pads and assesses whether a shock is needed.
If someone is unresponsive and not breathing normally: call 999, start CPR and use a defibrillator as soon as one is available. If other people are there, send someone to collect it while CPR continues.
You do not need to be perfect. You just need to act.
Save this post, share it with someone who needs to see it, and DM us “CPR” if you would like practical, hands-on first-aid training with Act Fast Derby💚

Little bumps happen — especially when little ones are learning to walk, climb, run and explore 💚
Most head bumps are minor, but it can be hard to know when you simply need to keep an eye on them and when you need urgent help.
This carousel covers a few key signs to look out for after a child bumps their head, including unusual drowsiness, repeated vomiting, confusion, a seizure, problems with speech, balance or vision, and any loss of consciousness.
Trust your instincts too. If your child is not behaving like themselves or you are worried, get medical advice through NHS 111. If they are difficult to wake, have a seizure, lose consciousness or have other serious symptoms, call 999 or go to A&E.
Save this for your first-aid toolkit — we hope you never need it, but it is always better to know what to look for.

Burns happen fast, especially with little ones around the kitchen 🍳 Here's what to actually do in the first few minutes:
1️⃣ Cool it down — run cool (not ice-cold) water over the burn for 20 minutes (up to 40 for a chemical or electrical burn)
2️⃣ Remove anything loose — rings, watches, loose clothing, before swelling starts, DO NOT peel or force off any clothing that’s stuck to the burn
3️⃣ Cover it properly — cling film or a clean, non-fluffy dressing, never butter or creams
4️⃣ Know when to get help — anything bigger than a your own hand (1% of your body) , on a child, or on the face/hands or ge****ls, needs medical attention
Save this one, you never know when you'll need it.

Quick question — does your workplace have a trained first aider? 🤔
It’s not just good practice, it’s an NHS requirement, and it’s one of those things that’s easy to overlook until it matters. The more of your team trained in CPR, choking response and defib use, the safer everyone is if something happens.
We bring hands-on, practical first aid training directly to your workplace, so there’s no travel and no lost day out of the office. We also offer discounted rates for group bookings, making it an easy way to get your whole team covered.

Green tick ✅
COMPLETED.

But when it comes to first aid, completing a module and being confident enough to act in a real emergency are two very different things.

That’s why I strongly believe the practical elements of first aid training need to be delivered face to face.

You need to practise CPR.
You need to handle the equipment.
You need to physically use a trainer auto-injector.
You need the opportunity to ask questions, make mistakes and try again.

Because in an emergency, nobody is asking whether you got the green tick.

They need you to know what to do.

Confidence. Not just compliance. 💚

If someone's unconscious but breathing, the recovery position could be the difference-maker while you wait for help.
1️⃣ Turn them onto their side
2️⃣ Tilt the head back to keep the airway open
3️⃣ Stay with them and monitor their breathing until help arrives
It sounds simple, but under pressure most people freeze. Training builds the muscle memory so you act without hesitation.

Quick one to save 📌 Here's what should actually be in your home or car first aid kit:
🩹 Plasters & dressings — a range of sizes, plus sterile gauze for bigger cuts
🎗️ Bandages & tape — for securing dressings and supporting sprains
🧤 Antiseptic wipes & gloves — clean the area, protect yourself, prevent infection
✂️ Scissors & a thermal blanket — small, easy to overlook, genuinely useful
Having the kit is step one. Knowing how to actually use it under pressure is what training gives you.
DM us "TRAINING" if you'd like to book your next course.
