The Family Art Club started this week with a vibrant paper mache birds! 🐦 The families crafted their own bird shapes using cereal cardboard and crumpled newspaper as the base. They then rummaged through the coloured tissue baskets, selecting bright pieces to bring their feathered friends to life. The room was filled with chatter, laughter, and the sound of creative minds at work. Everyone was beaming with pride and thrilled with their stunning results. 🎨

The Family Art Club created amazing, zany dancing cat puppets yesterday! They enjoyed the process of cutting out shapes, coloring them with crayons, and carefully fixing split pins and coffee stirrers to bring their puppets to life. We had some wild and wonderfully quirky cats dancing in our puppet theatre. What a lovely session! We can't wait to see what they come up with next! 🎨🎭

Spiral Artists Zoe and Jenny had an amazing time working with the Young Carers this week, creating positive affirmations on clay. This session is part of our innovative Spill the Tea project, generously funded by Derbyshire Community Health Services to promote good sexual health and wellbeing among young people. The project aims to provide a safe and creative space for young carers to express themselves and explore topics that matter to them. We had a great time chatting and sharing information, and it was wonderful to see the young carers engaging with the activity and enjoying themselves. πŸŽ¨πŸ’•

Our Family Art Club participants had an incredible time creating stunning flowers today🌷! We used plastic bottles that were painted in a variety of wonderful colours, from bright pink to electric blue, which gave them an extra sparkle. The bottle corks were the perfect addition, providing a sturdy centre for our beautiful blooms. And let's not forget the willow sticks wrapped in vibrant green crepe paper, which added a delightful textural element to our creations. The end result was a truly wonderful sight to behold, especially in the lovely sunshine that poured in through the windows. The way the light danced across the colours and brought out the intricate details of our flowers was simply magical. We couldn't be prouder of our talented young artists and the amazing things they've accomplished! 🌼🎨

Last Wednesday, the Spill the Tea Project joined a wonderful group of young carers to explore sexual health resources from Derbyshire Community Health Services. 🍡
By combining creative activities with expert guidance on the resource website, we shared essential information in an engaging way. The young women’s thoughtful conversations were inspiring, and participants left feeling confident and equipped to make informed choices. πŸ’«

At our 2nd Family Art Club we created clay fishes 🐟🐠
It was good to get messy with air-drying clay and sculpt some wonderful patterns on our fishes using zigzag rollers, felt tip tops and shells. When they have dried, we can't wait to see them painted in glorious colour. Thank you to Spiral Artists, Monika and Jenny for leading the session, and assistant, Claudia.😊

🫟Last week, Spiral Artist Jenny facilitated an engaging session inspired by Becky Beasley's exhibition at QUAD - Derby in collaboration with Mandy, Quad's Education Coordinator. Together, they guided young participants in crafting their own motorised mobiles, exploring, drawing, cutting, shape-making, and wire-twisting. The resulting movement and sounds were truly captivating.🫟

Our Spill the Tea Project commenced yesterday at Women's Work, where a select group of adults gathered to explore the Sexual Health Resources offered by Derbyshire Community Health Services. We engaged in a creative exercise of crafting paper teacups, sharing vital information on available support, and designing batik pieces inspired by empowering affirmations. Participants left feeling better equipped and confident to make informed decisions.
