CPG Therapy and Well-being Support

CPG Therapy and Well-being Support Hypnotherapy and well-being support for individuals privately and in the workplace. Hi, I'm Sarah. Best wishes,
Sarah

I'm a qualified hypnotherapist and a Well-being Support Worker. I'm here to help people work through their worries using hypnotherapy or providing wellbeing support. Whether you're facing tough times or want to make positive changes in your life, hypnotherapy can help with many different things. I have 20 years of experience as a family support worker, helping children and families improve their well-being. I believe that feeling good in life is important for everything—from your health and relationships to your job and home life. When one of these areas is out of balance, it can affect your peace of mind. This is why I wish to continue you using my skills and knowledge, to continue supporting people in the workplace with their well-being worries or experiences. In my previous job, I offered advice, listened with care, and built trusted relationships so people could open up about their concerns. If I couldn't provide the exact help they needed, I would guide them to the right services and support, like making referrals or going to appointments. I'm passionate about helping others reach their goals, grow, and feel positive. I’m here to support you on your journey towards feeling better and achieving success. I love meeting new people, listening to their stories, and offering help wherever I can. In my free time, I enjoy hiking, being outdoors, listening to music, and spending time with my family and friends. I hope I can be the right person to support you through hypnotherapy and/or well-being services. Feel free to explore my website or my Facebook business page and if you have any questions, please don't hesitate to reach out to me.

You may have noticed that I've been a little quieter on social media over the school holidays… 💭

And honestly, that's been intentional. ❤️

When my children are off school, my priorities change.

My children come first.
My own wellbeing matters too.
And my clients and the businesses I support will always be a priority.

Social media?

That's the thing that can wait.

Running your own business can sometimes come with the feeling that you should always be doing something…

📱 Posting
💻 Creating content
🤝 Networking
📣 Promoting your business
✨ Staying visible

But sometimes, life needs your attention more.

For me, the school holidays are about spending time with my children, enjoying family time, slowing down a little and making sure I'm looking after my own wellbeing too.

And I've learnt that stepping away from social media doesn't mean I've stepped away from my business.

It simply means I've recognised what needs my attention most at that particular time.

And isn't that what wellbeing is partly about?
Recognising what you need and giving yourself permission to prioritise it.

We don't have to do everything.

We don't have to be constantly productive.

And we don't have to feel guilty for taking a step back.

So, if you've noticed C.P.G. has been a little quieter over the holidays…That's why. ❤️

The children are now back at school, and I'm looking forward to getting back into work, supporting my clients, working alongside the businesses I support and sharing more of what C.P.G. Therapy and Wellbeing Support has to offer.

Because sometimes, the healthiest thing we can do for our wellbeing is simply say:

"This can wait."

What is something you've allowed yourself to put down or step away from when life has needed your attention elsewhere?

I'd love to hear from you. 💬

Well... if you've been trying to get hold of me this week and wondered why I sound like I've swallowed a squeaky toy... now you know! 🙈 I can sympathize with Harry Kane after the Mexico Match🤣

I may have got slightly carried away celebrating England's match on Saturday night. Apparently, cheering at full volume for 90+ minutes isn't the best vocal care plan. Who knew? ⚽😂

The irony isn't lost on me that, as a hypnotherapist, my voice is one of my most important tools. This week has reminded me just how much I rely on it to help people relax, feel safe, and guide them through positive change. Not having my voice at full strength has been frustrating and has meant I haven't been able to show up quite as I'd like.

It also got me thinking about something much deeper.

There are so many times in life when we feel as though we've lost our voice. Not physically, but emotionally.

Maybe you've experienced abuse and felt too afraid to speak.

Maybe someone else has always made decisions for you, leaving you feeling unheard.

Perhaps at work your ideas are constantly overlooked, or at school you learned that staying quiet felt safer than speaking up.

Sometimes it's family dynamics. Sometimes it's relationships. Sometimes it's simply feeling that no one is really listening.

Over time, we can begin to believe our voice doesn't matter.

But it does.

Your thoughts matter.
Your feelings matter.
Your experiences matter.
And your voice deserves to be heard.

One of the most powerful parts of counselling and therapy is having a space where you don't have to fight to be listened to. A space where you can explore your thoughts without judgement, rebuild confidence, and begin to trust your own voice again.

So, while I'm patiently waiting for mine to return (and promising to celebrate England a little more quietly next time... maybe! 😅), I'd love to hear from you.

What helps you feel heard?

Is it talking to a trusted friend? Journalling? Therapy? Setting boundaries? Finding the courage to say "no"? Or something else entirely?

Let's share ideas. You never know who might need to read them today. 💙

Last night, I finally made it back to my networking group after missing quite a few meetings because of work commitments.

I'll admit, I wondered what it would feel like walking back into the room after being away for so long, but I really didn't need to worry. I was greeted by so many familiar faces, and there wasn't a hint of judgement that I'd been absent. It was just lovely to catch up, have some great conversations, and meet some new people too.

What I love most about this group is how welcoming and relaxed everyone is. Whether it's your first visit or your first one in months, you're made to feel like you belong.

Being self-employed can sometimes feel a little lonely, which is why communities like this are so important. Having people around you who genuinely support and encourage each other makes such a difference, and it really feels like being part of a team.

If you've been thinking about giving networking a try, I'd definitely recommend coming along. And if the thought of walking into a room on your own feels a bit daunting, just drop me a message. I'd be more than happy to go with you and introduce you to everyone. 😊

I've been reflecting on last week, and it reminded me just how often life asks us to hold mixed emotions at the same time.

As a mum, we celebrated my son qualifying as a Level 3 Engineer after finishing college—a huge achievement that I'm incredibly proud of. At the same time, we handed back his heart monitor and began the wait for answers.

It struck me that life doesn't always separate the joyful moments from the difficult ones.

We can feel proud and worried.
Hopeful and uncertain.
Grateful and overwhelmed.

As a therapist, I often hear people say they feel guilty for enjoying the good moments when something else is weighing on their mind. Others tell me they think they should be coping because there are positive things happening in their lives.

But emotions aren't a competition, and they don't cancel each other out. We can carry more than one feeling at a time, and every emotion deserves space to be acknowledged.

Sometimes, simply having a safe place to talk can help us make sense of those conflicting emotions, rather than feeling we have to push one aside.

So, if you're finding yourself holding both joy and uncertainty at the moment, know that you're not alone. Both can exist together, and it's okay to make space for each of them. 💙

One of the biggest misconceptions about workplace wellbeing is that it's only needed when someone is struggling.

In reality, the most effective organisations don't wait for burnout before investing in support.

They create opportunities for employees to:
✔ Reflect before stress builds.
✔ Develop resilience during periods of change.
✔ Improve confidence and communication.
✔ Feel supported rather than judged.
✔ Access help early, not only in crisis.

Therapy and wellbeing support aren't simply about "fixing problems". They're about helping people perform at their best whilst protecting their mental health.

When people know they have somewhere confidential to talk, they're often better equipped to navigate both professional and personal challenges.

Supporting wellbeing isn't just good for employees—it's good for culture, retention and long-term performance.

Sometimes the best investment is giving people permission to pause before they reach breaking point.

✨ I have a few therapy slots becoming available over the coming weeks. ✨

If you've been thinking about starting therapy but haven't quite taken the first step, this could be a good opportunity to explore whether it's right for you.

I offer a free initial consultation, giving you the chance to ask questions, share any worries, and see if we feel like a good fit—without any pressure or obligation.

You might be wondering:
• "Will I know what to say?"
• "What if my problems don't feel 'big enough'?"
• "Will I be judged?"
• "Can I actually afford therapy?"
• "What if it doesn't help?"

These are all very common concerns, and having an initial conversation can often help ease some of those worries. It's a chance to talk through what you're looking for, find out how I work, and decide whether therapy feels right for you.

Sessions can also be tailored to suit your needs and circumstances. While some people prefer weekly sessions, others find that fortnightly or monthly appointments work better, whether that's for practical, financial, or personal reasons. Therapy doesn't have to fit one set pattern.

And therapy isn't only for times of crisis. You don't need to be struggling with a specific issue to benefit. Many people use therapy as a space for reflection, personal growth, improving relationships, building confidence, or simply taking time to understand themselves better.

If you've been considering therapy, I'd love to hear from you. Feel free to send me a message to arrange a free consultation or ask any questions you may have. There is absolutely no obligation—just an opportunity to explore what support might look like for you.

A little personal win this week! 💪

I've recently joined a local gym Curves Ilkeston that works around my busy work schedule and family life, and I'm so glad I took the plunge.

As a therapist, I spend a lot of time encouraging people to look after their mental health and physical well-being, and to stay connected with others. It felt important that I follow my own advice too.

The exercise has been great for my physical health, but what I've really enjoyed is the social side of it. It's nice to get out, meet new people, have a laugh, and be part of a supportive community. Those connections can make such a difference to our overall wellbeing.

And yes, even in the 30°C+ heat this week, I still showed up for my workout and earned this sticker! 🌞🏅

A good reminder that looking after ourselves doesn't have to be complicated—it just has to be something we can realistically fit into our lives and stick with.

What's one thing you've done recently for your own wellbeing?

💤 The Importance of Sleep and Breaking the Cycle of Poor Sleep 💭

Sleep is one of the most important foundations of our physical, emotional, and mental wellbeing, yet it's often one of the first things we sacrifice when life gets busy.

Many of us have experienced a poor night's sleep, but when it becomes a regular occurrence, it can start to affect every aspect of our day.

There are many reasons why we may struggle with sleep:

✨ Stress and anxiety
✨ Overthinking or worrying about the future
✨ Changes in routine
✨ Excessive screen time before bed
✨ Caffeine, alcohol, or certain medications
✨ Physical health conditions or pain
✨ Hormonal changes
✨ Life pressures, work demands, or family responsibilities

What often happens is that we get caught in a cycle.

We don't sleep well, so we wake feeling tired and drained. Because we're tired, we may find it harder to concentrate, manage our emotions, or cope with everyday challenges. Stress levels increase, our minds become busier, and when bedtime comes around, we struggle to switch off. Another poor night's sleep follows, and the cycle continues.

Poor sleep can affect:

🧠 Concentration and memory
💭 Mood and emotional wellbeing
❤️ Stress levels
⚡ Energy and motivation
🤝 Relationships and communication
🛡️ Physical health and immune function

The good news is that small changes can make a difference.

Creating a calming bedtime routine, reducing screen time before sleep, limiting caffeine later in the day, practising relaxation techniques, and maintaining a consistent sleep schedule can all help support healthier sleep habits.

Most importantly, be kind to yourself. If you're struggling with sleep, try not to add pressure by worrying about not sleeping. Sometimes the most helpful thing we can do is acknowledge that we're having a difficult night and focus on rest rather than perfection.

If sleep difficulties are ongoing, counselling and hypnotherapy can provide valuable support. Counselling offers a safe space to explore underlying stress, anxiety, worries, or life challenges that may be impacting sleep. Hypnotherapy can help promote deep relaxation, quieten a busy mind, and support the development of healthier sleep patterns and habits.

Sleep isn't a luxury—it's a necessity. Looking after our sleep is one of the most powerful ways we can support our overall wellbeing. Sometimes, reaching out for support can be the first step towards breaking the cycle and achieving more restful, restorative sleep.

One thing I've been working on over the past few years is learning to accept praise, compliments, and even a simple "thank you."

For many of us, giving praise to others comes naturally. We can recognise someone's effort, kindness, or achievement and happily acknowledge it. Yet when that same praise is directed towards us, we often dismiss it, minimise it, or quickly change the subject.

I've realised that accepting praise is just as important as giving it.

When someone offers a compliment or thanks us for something we've done, accepting it with a simple "thank you" allows us to acknowledge our own efforts and strengths. It doesn't make us arrogant; it helps us build self-worth, confidence, and self-compassion.

The same applies to praising ourselves. We are often our own toughest critics, focusing on what still needs doing rather than recognising what we've already achieved. Something as simple as completing a task on your to-do list, having a difficult conversation, or making time for self-care deserves acknowledgment.

Taking a moment to say, "I did that well," or "I'm proud of myself for getting that done," can have a powerful impact on our wellbeing.

Giving praise, accepting praise, and offering praise to ourselves all contribute to a more positive mindset and overall wellbeing. They help us recognise progress, build resilience, and appreciate the small wins that often go unnoticed.

So today/over the weekend and so on, if someone compliments you, thanks you, or recognises something you've done, try not to brush it aside. Simply smile and accept it.

You deserve to hear the good things too.

And before you scroll on, thank you for being you and for taking the time to read my post. Your support, engagement, and presence here are genuinely appreciated.

Today, my eldest son turns 18.

As a parent, it's one of those milestones that can bring a mixture of emotions. Pride, excitement, happiness, reflection, and if I'm honest, a little uncertainty too.

He's my first child, which means every stage of parenthood has been a first for me as well. There was no manual, no perfect roadmap, just learning as I went, making mistakes, reflecting, adapting, and doing the best I could with the knowledge and experience I had at the time.

As I reflect on him becoming an adult, I'm reminded that growth isn't just something our children experience. As parents, we're growing too.

Over the years, I've watched him develop his own personality, values, strengths, interests, and independence. At the same time, I've had to learn when to guide, when to step back, when to protect, and when to trust.

Turning 18 brings new opportunities, responsibilities, and choices. It's exciting to think about the path ahead of him and the life he will continue to create for himself. While I know he will make mistakes along the way, I also know that mistakes are often where some of our greatest learning takes place.

As a wellbeing practitioner, counsellor, and psychotherapist, I often see how significant life transitions can bring mixed emotions. We can feel joy and sadness, excitement and worry, pride and loss all at the same time. These feelings don't cancel each other out—they simply reflect how meaningful these moments are.

For many parents, milestones like this can prompt reflection on identity, purpose, changing family dynamics, and what the next chapter might look like. Whilst much of the focus is naturally on the young person stepping into adulthood, parents are often navigating their own transition too.

Parenting doesn't stop when a child turns 18—it simply changes. The role evolves, boundaries shift, and we begin to support from a different place. That can feel exciting, but it can also feel challenging.

So, as my son turns 18, I'm choosing to celebrate who he is becoming, whilst also acknowledging the journey that has brought us both here.

To all the parents watching their children grow, change, and take their next steps—your feelings matter too.

And if you're finding a life transition challenging, whether as a parent or in another area of life, know that support is available. Sometimes having space to explore the emotions that come with change can make all the difference.

Happy 18th birthday to my son. I'm incredibly proud of the person you've become, and excited to see where life takes you next. ❤️
