Today, the children went for a lovely walk to our local shop, 🛒where they had the opportunity to choose their own fruit 🍌to use in the fruit salad 🍌🍊🍎they would make when we returned to nursery.
There was lots of lovely communication 🗣️between the staff and children as we walked along.
The children also enjoyed waving to the bus driver 🚌as the bus went past, and they were very happy when he waved back. One child excitedly said, “He waved !”
When we returned to nursery, we sat together and talked about the different fruits we had chosen. The children then had a go at cutting up their fruit 🍋🟩and deciding what they wanted to include in their own fruit salad.
They showed great independence and enthusiasm throughout the activity.
Once their fruit salads were ready, the children proudly took them home to enjoy. It was a wonderful experience that encouraged communication, independence, decision-making and healthy eating.
