Bottoms up. A new batch of End Grain Cups painted and oiled up, now curing away under the wood burner.

One of these I’m very much looking forward to trying out with my stove kit when on walking trips and going away working.

Nice fleet of ‘Festival’ Spoons
Great for cooking in smaller pots, cranked enough to eat with at the food stand and good to stirr your brew at the tea urn.

I normally use my eating spoon for all of the above, but these are way better with a slightly longer handle and less crank.

All in gorgeous Rowan wood with milk painted handles. Very chuffed with finally sorting these out. One for me and the rest are up for grabs. I’ll be listing them soon along with end grain cups and a nice kuksa.

Dates for kuksa courses in 2026 at the Greenwood Days centre in the National Forest, UK Midlands.
These will be the main two courses I will be teaching next year, going deep into carving wood and making objects with more difficulty. A great course to help you move on from spoon carving and whittling.
It really is a very pleasent centre within a mixed deciduous woodland with food, drinks and equipment provided.

Nice run of End Grain Cups oiled up and curing away in the workshop away from the wet miserable weather.

Very much enjoyed making these again after a break and I have new shapes to chase, which always keeps me ticking along.

A pair of simple spoons for the kitchen. A cooker and a stirring spoon. Both used so much each day for cups of tea and shoving things around in a pan or pot.
I’ve tested a fair few out in my kitchen over the years when working on new designs. I think I am happy now.
These are available if interested and I will be regularly making them up till xmas.

Teaching bird bowl carving at the weekend Greenwood Days
Great being in the woods in the autumn and really good bowls were born by the students.

I had a great time running a spoon carving course on Saturday at for the National Trust.

Seven folks attended and were all at different levels with four people having already made a spoon or two previously.

This used to be a rare thing when I first started teaching craft. It’s interesting as it allows me to spend a bit more time with the beginners but also help more advanced guys with issues that bug them, plus geek out over form and tools. Thanks for coming along everyone 👏👏
Just a bird bowl carving class to run at and then its workshop time through the winter carving woodenware to catch up on orders and for shows 🪓
