🎹 Why enter your child for music exams like ABRSM or Trinity?

Many parents ask whether exams are necessary — and the truth is, they can be incredibly beneficial when introduced at the right time and in the right way.

✨ Clear goals & motivation
Programmes like ABRSM and Trinity College London give students structured levels to work towards. This helps children stay motivated, focused, and proud of their progress.

🎓 UCAS points advantage
From Grade 6 onwards, students can earn UCAS points, which can support future college and university applications — a great long-term benefit!

⏳ How long does it take?
Every child is different, but typically:
• Around 6 months to 2 years per grade
(depending on practice, consistency, and individual pace)

🎼 When is a child ready?
Once a student has a solid foundation (basic note reading, rhythm, coordination), they can begin working towards their first exam.

📚 What does the exam include?
Each grade usually consists of:
• 🎵 3 pieces
• 🎹 Scales & technical work
• 👂 Aural (listening) tests
• 👀 Sight-reading
