This academic year, I’ve made 25 visits to 21 schools, nurseries and colleges across Derby. I’ve loved meeting pupils, answering their questions and hearing directly from teachers and staff.

My goal is to visit every school in Derby North before the end of this Parliament. If I haven’t made it to yours yet, please get in touch!

🎾 Has Wimbledon inspired your child to give tennis a go?

Have they enjoyed learning tennis during their PE lessons this year? Or are they looking for a fun new way to stay active?

We have a fantastic opportunity for girls interested in trying tennis, with FREE coaching sessions taking place this Saturday at Derby Tennis Centre.

Whether your child is picking up a racket for the first time or already loves the game, everyone is welcome!

🎓 Year 5 Secondary School Taster Day 🎓

Recently, our Year 5 children were lucky enough to visit for a fantastic secondary school taster day as they begin to think about their next steps.

During the visit, the children met some of the teachers, explored the school grounds and took part in exciting Humanities and Art lessons, giving them a real taste of life at secondary school.

We were incredibly proud to hear from the Headteacher, Mrs Scattergood, who personally commended our pupils for their outstanding behaviour, positive attitudes and excellent manners. A number of our children even received a chocolate reward in recognition of how brilliantly they represented our school! 🌟🍫

The day finished with every child receiving a goody bag to take home, and they all left feeling much more confident and informed about what secondary school has to offer.

A huge thank you to everyone at Da Vinci Academy for making our children feel so welcome and for providing such a memorable experience.

🥕🍓 Healthy Eating! 🍎🥒

As part of our continued focus on promoting healthy lifestyles, we were delighted to welcome Mellors, our school catering company, into school this week for a fantastic healthy eating assembly.

The children loved watching a live pasta sauce demonstration, where they saw fresh, healthy ingredients (including 10 vegetables!) being used to create a delicious meal. They were also incredibly brave during a live taste test, trying the finished sauce together and gave it a glowing review! At lunchtime, the healthy theme continued, with the pasta sauce available to enjoy alongside opportunities to taste a range of new fruits and vegetables.
