Day 15-20 of wee bonnie moments.

1. My son thought this loch was fair game to run into, hence me holding him for dear life. He ended up finding every stick surrounding the area and chucking them in. My tshirt was half way up my back so the writing is covering it πŸ˜„

2. My dad and I usually go for adventures around Scotland but we have taken a long break since I had my son. Now that he can walk (run πŸ˜…) we have started slow with country parks close by.

3. It was Matthew's birthday on Tuesday so I made him this painting so I had something nicer than a scrap piece of paper to write on. I struggled going back to gouache to he honest but I kept pushing it and eventually I was semi happy with it. I only had 40 minutes though.

4. I heard strange noises and Noah was covering his ears saying "stop talking" safe to say it freaked me out and I stopped going for a few days. πŸ˜…

5. I heard that fish were popular in the aceo land so I tried to paint some. Never painted them before and I spent a length of a movie on these. Not happy with the purple fish the other two are coming out ok but they are far from finished. The paper is a lot rougher than I am used to. I switched to smoother paper when I went from watercolour to gouache so I am out of practice with cold press now!

6. The puffin on the right is sold, the rest of these beauties are on my ebay with a fresh week of auction! Link in bio 😊

Back in 2024, I started doing little sketches from photos I have taken on wee adventures around Scotland with my dad. I intended to eventually turn my favourites into bigger more fleshed out paintings but, I never took it any further than my sketchbook. I would still love to do this! Especially with this one although I am a bit concerned the loose, textured quality will be hard to translate into a proper artwork! I guess the only way to figure out if it will work or not is to try it! This was painted with gouache and finished off with soft pastels, the first time I ever attempted to use both mediums on the same painting and I still love it to this day.

Let me know if you want me to paint this again and refine it?

The memory of my trip to three lochs forest drive off season will forever be captured in my wee sketchbook regardless though. Funny how the off season is actually the most beautiful time of year for this location in my opinion. I highly recommend if you are ever in Scotland during Autumn.
