We have been delighted to be given the opportunity to display our school’s artwork, along with other participating Hampshire schools, at the Climate Unity Art Exhibition in Wi******er.

A group of 30 children from the Eco and Nurture Groups were given a selection of old damaged and broken musical instruments that would have been disposed of. They were tasked with giving them a new life through thinking about how the instruments could be creatively reused or repurposed. Supervised by Mrs Lane and Mrs Swift, and with the help of Mr Marks’ DIY skills, they worked in small groups to create some splendid pieces of artwork.

The children considered the environment and sustainability and reflected this in their artwork. They collected recycled materials and used these to enhance their artwork. Our final pieces included a cello dolls house, guitar and ukulele birdhouses, ukulele nightlight, trumpet pencil pot and many more.

Our year 4 pupils have been learning about sketching this half term. They have been developing a range of skills while studying the work of Portsmouth artist, My Dog Sighs. The final pieces are linked to their writing on dragons. Here are some examples!

Yesterday, our Year 6 pupils visited Paultons Park to learn about forces and their effects on our bodies. We learnt about how theme park rides are designed and made, considering the reasons behind the materials used and the forces they rely on to make the rides both safe and exciting. Then we were able to experience what we had been learning about! Thank you Paultons Park!
