At the going down of the sun and in the morning. We shall remember them

This afternoon, some of our Key Stage 2 students enjoyed a wonderful guitar lesson out in the sunshine ☀️

The final results are in from the Daventry Library's Inter School League! Huge congratulations to Newnham Primary School who have topped the leaderboard for the third year running! What wonderful news!

We work closely together with our sister school Welton CE Academy (we share the same headteacher). As a result, the children often share coaches, trips, residentials and even combine sports teams. Two of our children suggested a football match between the two schools which was arranged for this week. Mr Johnson gave a motivational speech before the match. Not quite sure which team he was cheering on. It was a close match, unfortunately the score finished at 6-5 to Welton but the children all had a great time. Followed by an ice-cream to finish off the afternoon.

Our amazing netball team! They have been working hard and committing to netball club (some since year 3).
So proud of our netballers. In the spring, we competed at our Dret Spring Cup where the academies from Northamptonshire area compete against each other. We came top of our group and finished off in third position which meant we got through to the finals. The Dret academies from the Yorkshire area also competed and identified their top 3 schools. A final took place and our school achieved 3rd place. We may be the smallest school in our academy trust of 27 primaries, but we definitely hold our own against the much larger schools! 🥉

Our school works with the Northamptonshire MHST (Mental Health Schools Team) to support our children's understanding of mental health. Recently, MHST completed a workshop with the Otters about understanding how our body reacts when we're feeling under pressure or worried. The children were confident in identifying the signs and put forward lots of suggestions of what to do if we're feeling this way.
