Tomorrow evening we’ll see a partial solar eclipse – the most significant eclipse visible here in the UK since 1999!

Although the very little ones are likely to be tucked up in bed, it’s still a wonderful opportunity to spark children’s curiosity about the world around them, talk about the Sun, Moon and Earth, and enjoy a little bit of awe and wonder together. 🌍✨

Another fantastic morning at Southbrook Community Centre stay and play. The confidence and smiles on the children’s faces as they played, explored, and interacted with other children this morning, have been amazing to see.

Sand play

We are following national safety advice after the Office for Product Safety and
Standards recalled several children’s products containing sand contaminated with asbestos. We do not use any of these listed items in the setting, however, as a precaution, we have temporarily stopped ALL sand-based play.
Current public-health advice indicates the risk to health is very low.

World book day! This week we have read books cuddled on the sofa, and in the park whilst enjoying the warmer weather. Reading to our children, even from birth, is a joyful experience for both adult and child. The children get so much from looking at books together, and independently, talking about the pictures in the book, repeating familiar phrases, or talking about what happens next…..it’s all part of early learning. These are some of the children’s favourite books at the moment.
