I feel honoured and proud to have been part of The Festival School at Bearded Theory again this year.
We work together to create something fleeting and special in a place that is itself magical and transient. It’s exhausting, but we’re already plotting for next year!
If you’ve contacted me over the past fortnight and haven’t had a reply, please do nudge me. It’s been somewhat chaotic in Progress Towers!

Good luck to all Year 6 students starting their SATs today.
Breathe, read the questions carefully and try your best.
Whatever the outcome, know that you’re a superstar and we’re all so very proud of you.

If you’re coming down to Haslingden for tuition tomorrow, be sure to build in some extra time for CHOCOLATE!
(If you can’t find me, I’ll be dozing on the Big Lamp steps like a chocolate-filled Snorlax…)
Something for you to get your teeth stuck into tomorrow 🤣
The first event being held at the Big Lamp Square!
Ill be nipping round as I have a house full of chocoholics.
What are your favourite chocolate bars? I used to love a Spira....
I would drink my tea through it when no one was looking 🤣🤣🤣.

Double bubble this week!
Our first word, ‘cad’ came from some music homework, spelling words with musical notes. A cad is someone who deliberately disregards someone else’s feelings with their behaviour.
The second is ‘far-flung’ - from a reading comprehension about the Isle of Skye. It literally means as it sounds - something very far away, as if thrown. It highlights the isolation and distance, in both a physical and social sense.
Have you learned any new words this week? Let us know in the comments!

This week’s wow word comes from a verbal reasoning task.
To remark upon something is to pass comment or to acknowledge it, for example - “I like your hat!” he remarked.

Haslingden’s Mums Know Best!
It was great to catch up with Councillor Samara Barnes yesterday at Haslingden Market, where her and Catherine Eddisford gave out nearly 200 copies of their local cookbook, gathering together the tried and tested and passed-down recipes of Haslingden mums.
If you missed out on your copy, you can pick one up from our Haslingden centre. We’d love to see what you make from it!
Do you have a tried and tested recipe that’s been passed down through your family? Let us know in the comments.
Sending love on Mother’s Day to all the mums who go above and beyond to support our students, and to anyone who is finding today hard x
