One year after qualifying as Soul Motion Community Dance Practitioners, look what's growing...
Here's a spotlight from Emma, Frances and Harmony:
“We have set up Women In Movement, taking it in turns to lead fortnightly classes for women in the incredible Studio 6 on the Dartington estate.
Having the privilege of inheriting this class from Leela, we are now attracting women to our style of leadership and offering, and it is such a joy to see how it is evolving.
It is magic to see women in movement together - women coming home to themselves, their bodies and expression, and seeing women moving together collectively is exquisitely beautiful.
We love witnessing how different women get what they need from the space. We try hard to communicate a sense of permission, and it is great to see how that grows - women learning from each other how they can take up more space, rest more, be wild/playful/loud/gorgeous.
It was a bit nerve wracking at first leading sessions, but it has been wonderful to have the support of trusted colleagues who have got your back, can hold the space and give you confidence to be creative and courageous.
Working as a three has so many benefits, both in what we bring to our organisation, our diversity in teaching, and who we are as people. Seeing women arrive, some not knowing quite what to expect, and soon they find their feet, their backs, their rest, their creativity, their flow but most of all their permission to be in their bodies and do exactly as they goddamn choose including following all the invitation or none! This is the creme de la creme of Soul Motion - permission, over and over again.
Come along to our next series, starting 23rd September. It is such a beautiful dance space, and the community growing around it is so special.”
