We’d love to say a huge thank you to this incredible group of people at Darlington College, who have raised £3,662 for Darlington Mind!

They’ve got stuck into all sorts of fundraising, including a padel tournament, a bake sale and a walk from Saltburn to Sandsend. Thank you to everyone who took part, organised an activity or made a donation.

We’re an independent local Mind, so the money they’ve raised will stay in our area, supporting people with their mental health.

SEND Family Voice at Darlington College 💬

We’re inviting parents and carers of young people with SEND to join us for our next SEND Family Voice Session at Darlington College:
📅 Wednesday 16 September ⏰ 4.30pm – 6pm📍 Darlington College

Open to both current and prospective parents and carers, the session is an opportunity to meet members of our SEND team, find out more about the support available for young people in further education, ask questions and connect with other families.

The evening will include:
4.30–5pm – Drop-in session to talk about support at College and ask questions
5–5.30pm – A short presentation covering some of the challenges young people with SEND may experience in further education, how parents and carers can support them, and progression pathways and future opportunities
5.30–6pm – An opportunity to connect with other families, share experiences and ask further questions

We also hope to be joined by a representative from SENDIASS to help with any queries.

✨ Graduation 2026

📸 Our graduation photos are in and really capture a great celebration of our 2026 interns.

It was a brilliant day recognising their hard work and achievements throughout the programme.

🙌 I’m especially pleased to share that 50% of this year’s cohort are already in employment, with interviews still ongoing for others.

This really shows that internships work, and I’d like to thank everyone involved for their support in making these opportunities possible.

Last call to apply for our Supported Internship Programme with Darlington College and Durham University! ⏰

Looking to get into work? Our Supported Internship Programme is a hands-on opportunity designed to help young people aged 17-25 build confidence, gain real workplace experience and develop the skills employers are looking for.

Learners will:
✅ Spend 4 days a week in real job roles
✅ Attend 1 classroom-based skills day each week
✅ Receive ongoing support from a dedicated job coach
✅ Rotate through 3 different placements across the year

Placement opportunities could include:
💻 IT Support
📣 Marketing and Administration
🍽️ Catering and Hospitality
🛠️ Estates and Facilities
🎭 Event Management
👶 Childcare
…and much more!

The programme is designed to help learners discover their strengths, build independence and take positive steps towards paid employment in a supportive environment. 🙌
