Sack of the week.... Alan's Big Scary Teeth

Alan loves to scare the other jungle animals with his big teeth.....but Alan has a secret. Is Alan quite as scary as he seems?

Sacks are free to borrow every Thursday 8.45-9.15am, and 12.30-1pm, just pop into the main entrance.

If you need to rush off and don't have time to choose a sack, the fantastic key educators can suggest a title or topic your child will enjoy, or we can support your child in choosing one to collect at pick up time.

If your child is not at nursery on a Thursday but you wish to borrow a sack, please let the office know and we'll arrange that for you.

Another busy week in Saplings, we’ve been learning about Autumn time and exploring leaves, conkers and pumpkins.
Building our own scarecrows and we had a wonderful visit to the Hippodrome to watch the Gruffalo.

Some of our children have shown lots of interest in layering different materials into containers to make bug hotels. We decided to develop this idea further and create some terrariums.
We started with a trip to the pet shop to buy some plants before finding other resources such as gravel, soil and moss to create our own terrariums.

Story and rhyme sacks are back!

A new term, and a new Gruffalo book released. In honour of the release of Gruffalo Granny, our sack of the week is The Gruffalo.

Mouse finds a nut, and the nut looks good.....but some other animals think Mouse looks tasty. What will happen when you add a gruffalo? Enjoy this enchanting Julia Donaldson favourite with your child.

Sacks are free to borrow every Thursday 8.45-9.15am and 12.30-1pm, just pop into the main entrance.

If you need to rush off and don't have time to choose a sack the fantastic key educators can suggest a title or topic your child will enjoy, or we can support your child in choosing one to collect at pick up time.

We are sharing the following letter from Dame de Souza. It would be helpful you could complete this for your child.

Dear Headteacher,

As children and young people return to school for the new academic year, I am writing to ask for your support in making sure pupils at your school have the opportunity to take part in my national survey, The Big Future. I have only heard from less than ten children at your school.
The survey can be completed here:

https://www.childrenscommissioner.gov.uk/thebigfuture.

I have already heard from hundreds of thousands of children and young people across England, and the majority of schools have now taken part.
It is crucial that children at your school have the chance to add their voices too, so that their experiences, views and aspirations are represented when I present the findings of the survey to Government.
I would be very grateful if you could support your pupils to fill out the survey at the start of term by:

sharing the survey directly with pupils through your school or college email system;
sharing it with parents and carers across your wider school community; and
setting aside time during form, tutor periods, assemblies or lessons for pupils to complete the survey.
Many schools have found that giving children time during the school day is the most effective way to ensure as many pupils as possible can take part. To make this as easy as possible, I have created a slide pack, an introductory video and FAQs which you can find on my website.

Every child’s voice matters, and I want to make sure that children and young people in every school and college, in every community, have the opportunity to shape the picture of childhood that I will share with Government.

Thank you for your support in helping to make sure your pupils’ voices are heard as we begin the new school year.

Yours sincerely,

Dame Rachel de Souza
Children’s Commissioner for England

Today some of our children went for a visit to the fire station🚒👩‍🚒 and police station🚓👮!

We got to have a look in the fire engine, slide down the fireman’s pole and a go of the hose! We also went to the police station we had a look in the van, tested out the sirens and handcuffs!

Thank you😄☀️
