They say ๐Ÿ‘‡

๐ŸŸ  laughter boosts physical & mental health
๐ŸŸข fresh air benefits physical and mental health
๐ŸŸก if you want to be able to do something in your latter years, do it regularly

We focus on all 3 of these โ˜๏ธ rather than sets, reps or 'exercise'! Anf have the best time whilst getting the most benefit for ourselves and each other.

Seeing the gains it brings for today, and in the weeks, months & years that follow makes us want to have more people coming and trying it for themselves.

Fancy a go? Turn up at 10:30am Friday morning at Falkland Estate (or message me here for more info)

Is it inevitable...?

..that, somehow, through the passage of time alone many of us
๐Ÿคพโ€โ™€๏ธ stop playing, and start 'exercising'
๐Ÿ˜‘ start prioritising serious over fun
๐Ÿซฃ "have a fall", not fall over & get up
๐Ÿ™ƒ become cautious about new things
โš ๏ธ start limiting our capabilities and then wonder why we can't do the things we used to...

Every Friday 10:30am at WildStrong Falkland a group of people - all with a good number of years of life experience, injuries, joint replacements, and great attitudes - spend an hour outdoors moving together.

Guided by coaching and simple games, the 2 goals are fun and good movement. Without even thinking about 'exercise' we bend, stretch, push, pull, sway, swing, crouch, get down, get up, catch, balance, & laugh.

The benefits are both felt right there, and also stored up as confidence, strength and capabilities that are useful in every day life.

Consider this your invitation to join us. No exercise experience required. Life experience essential ๐Ÿ˜ƒ

Jings! How did that happen...

I was busy living life and being outside, and moving around lots so I didn't post in a while ๐Ÿซฃ๐Ÿ˜„

If you have been too busy to stop and sniff the grass๐ŸŒฑ, often winter is a good time to slow your roll and try something different.

In my 3 and half years coaching WildStrong in Falkland, here is one insight I have gained.... Those that join in winter stick with it ๐Ÿ™Œ๐Ÿ‘

Another insight, you haven't seen a night's sky until you have done a strength training session in the open air with people who lift your spirits as high as the stars ๐ŸŒŸ

Wondering if this is for you? Then drop a question, message, or pop along to have a look (or a go) yourself. Mon, Wed, Fri every week, 6pm for strength and mobility. And Fri 1.30pm for explore and play movements.

The Stories That Shape How We Move โ€” WildStrong 25/08/2025

Reframing how we think about movement is a bit of a life lesson. Here is the story told by those that know ๐Ÿ‘‡๐Ÿ‘‡๐Ÿ‘‡ Regularly (as a coach) I see some people avoid movement altogether because of pain, injury, or fear of injury; and at the other end of the spectrum many who tackle pain with a determination to 'get past it' or refusing to let it limit what they do. Watching people use WildStrong as part of their discovery of pain free movement is one of the most rewarding parts of running the sessions. Watching people of all ages play, explore and enjoy moving never gets old! If you think you could benefit from being outside, playing, moving and strengthening your body, pop a comment below or get in touch

The Stories That Shape How We Move โ€” WildStrong Eleanor had a double knee replacement sixteen years ago. After her operation, kneeling felt painful and uncomfortable, so she stopped. Not because she couldnโ€™t, but because the pain became a warning, then a habit, then a rule. A quiet barrier that shaped how she moved through the world, or didnโ€™...

I can't say I've hugged a tree... but...๐Ÿ˜ฒ!

I can say I grew up in a place and time where I inherited a disconnect from nature๐Ÿ™ˆ Seems (sadly) I'm not alone in that.

For me, this isn't about being able to identify types of trees, or birds, or... Connection doesn't need technical or theoretical knowledge. It just needs a curiosity, and some observation๐Ÿ’š

Coaching outside in all seasons; taking my kids into the woods, playing hide and seek behind trees, or swinging on a strong branch have definitely connected me to the world in a different way. It's taken me by surprise, and it really is quite specialโœจ๏ธ Even (or especially!) in the rain!๐Ÿ’ง If you need the research to convince you, then that's there too โฌ‡๏ธ๐Ÿ“š๐ŸŽ“ ... Check it out, and maybe do your own experiments in the great outdoors ๐ŸŒณ๐Ÿƒ๐Ÿ‚

๐Ÿ™ƒSince when was play frivolous?

Turns out we can learn as much through play as an adult as we can as kids!

Here's the best bunch of playful adults I know. All definitely acting their shoe size and not their age! ๐Ÿ˜๐Ÿ˜…๐Ÿคฉ We wouldn't have it any other way.

๐Ÿค” Why? Well, cos here are some of the results:

๐Ÿ˜"I've had more fun in my hour here than I can remember having in the last year"

๐Ÿคธโ€โ™‚๏ธ"Going for a dog walk was a challenge after my knee replacement, now I'm ducking, lifting, bending and moving in ways I didn't think possible for a 72 year old"

๐Ÿ˜"I'm just not the same person when I've not been to WildStrong"

๐Ÿƒ"Being outside, having fun with good people, I forget this is even exercise"

๐Ÿ’›Play is better for our mental and physical health than almost anything I can think of. Why on earth would we stop doing it because of something so inevitable as age?!

๐ŸซตFancy some playtime? Friday, 1.30pm on Falkland Estate
๐ŸšซNo age restriction
๐ŸšซNo fitness requirements
๐ŸšซNo specialist kit required
๐ŸšซNo experience needed
โœ…๏ธJust you, a sense of adventure and a willingness to turn up whatever the weather!
