🐶❄️ **Woof, woof! It’s International Dog Day!** ❄️🐶

Hello, little explorers! It’s **Pip the Polar Bear** from Pop It Play! 🐻‍❄️

Today we are celebrating our wonderful four-legged friends — **dogs!** From tiny puppies to enormous gentle giants, dogs come in lots of different shapes, sizes and colours. 🐾

Here are some **pawsome dog facts** to share with your little ones:

🐕 Dogs have an amazing sense of smell that is much stronger than ours.

👂 Dogs can hear sounds that people cannot hear.

🐾 Every dog’s nose print is unique, a little like our fingerprints!

💤 Dogs sometimes move their paws or make little noises while sleeping because they may be dreaming.

❤️ Dogs can be loyal companions and may help people in lots of important ways.

🦮 Some dogs are specially trained to guide, support, rescue or comfort people.

Can your little pup:

🐾 Crawl carefully around like a playful puppy?

👂 Pretend to have big floppy dog ears?

🎾 Fetch a soft toy and bring it back?

🐶 Show us their happiest puppy face?

🎨 Draw or create their very own colourful dog?

💤 Curl up and pretend to have a puppy nap?

What would their dog be called, and what adventures would they go on together?

📸 **Grown-ups, take a photo of your little pup completing Pip’s challenge and share it with us on the Pop It Play social media pages!**

Tag **Pop It Play** or add your picture in the comments so Pip can see all your pawsome puppy poses, drawings and crafts! Please only share photographs you are happy to post publicly. 🐻‍❄️💙

You could also celebrate by giving your own dog some extra love, donating an item to a local rescue or learning how to safely greet a dog with a grown-up. 🐕❤️

⚽🏀 **National Sport Sampling Day!** 🏏🎾

Hello, little athletes! Pip the Polar Bear here! 🐻‍❄️💙

Today is all about trying different sports, learning new skills and—most importantly—having fun!

You don’t have to be the fastest runner, score every goal or already know how to play. Simply give something new a try! ⭐

You could have a go at:

⚽ Kicking a football
🏀 Bouncing a basketball
🎾 Hitting a tennis ball
🏏 Trying cricket
🏃 Running a little race
🤸 Practising balancing or jumping
🎯 Creating your own garden target game

Trying different sports can help children build confidence, meet new friends and discover an activity they really enjoy.

🐻‍❄️ **Pip’s Challenge:**

Choose a sport you haven’t tried before and give it a go with your family! You could even create your own mini sports day at home or in the park. 🏅

Remember, it doesn’t matter who wins—it’s about joining in, moving your body and having lots of fun!

Sooooo excited, PIP has BIG news! 🎉💻

We’ve been working behind the scenes with our IT and graphics teams to bring you our new, bigger and better website — and honestly, we can’t wait for you to see it!

Our old website has been giving us a few too many headaches 😅 Payments don’t always go through, and keeping everything updated has been a bit of a nightmare.

That’s why, for now, Facebook is still the best place to find all the latest and most up-to-date information. ❤️

But our new website is going to change all that! 🙌

✨ It will be compatible with Facebook, so updates can be kept in sync
✨ A lovely, clear calendar will show you exactly when we’re open
✨ There’s a brand-new membership area for our members
✨ And, most importantly, it will be much easier for us to keep everything up to date!

It’s been a long build process, but we’re finally in the final testing phase this week! 🤞

We’re aiming to go LIVE in September 🚀🎉

🍰🐻‍❄️ **National Sponge Cake Day!** 🐻‍❄️🍰

Hello, little bakers! Pip the Polar Bear here! 💙

Today is National Sponge Cake Day, so why not make a delicious, fluffy sponge cake together?

Remember: always ask a grown-up to help with the oven, hot tins and any cutting. 👩‍🍳👨‍🍳

# # # Pip’s Simple Sponge Cake

**You will need:**

🥚 3 eggs
🧈 175g softened butter
🍚 175g caster sugar
🌾 175g self-raising flour
🥄 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
🥛 1–2 tablespoons of milk

**For the middle:**

🍓 Strawberry or raspberry jam
☁️ Buttercream, whipped cream or a little icing sugar

# # # How to make it

1. Ask a grown-up to preheat the oven to **180°C, 160°C fan or Gas Mark 4**.

2. Grease and line two small round cake tins.

3. Place the butter and sugar into a bowl and mix until pale and fluffy.

4. Add the eggs one at a time, mixing carefully after each one.

5. Gently mix in the flour and vanilla.

6. Add a little milk if the mixture feels too thick.

7. Divide the mixture evenly between the two tins.

8. Ask a grown-up to place the tins in the oven and bake for around **20–25 minutes**.

9. The cakes are ready when they are golden and spring back when gently touched.

10. Leave them to cool completely before adding jam and your chosen filling.

Place one sponge on top of the other and finish with a light sprinkle of icing sugar! ✨

🐻‍❄️ **Pip’s Challenge:** Decorate your cake with strawberries, sprinkles or your favourite fruit—and share a photo with Pop It Play!

The best part of baking? Licking the spoon after the mixture has gone into the tins! 😋
