Endurancelife Pembrokeshire Marathon is my second trail marathon and my 6th marathon overall. My first trail marathon (and first ever marathon for me) was in 2017 (also from Endurancelife) and it gave be the bug to do more. The small scale of the event, perfect organisation, friendly atmosphere and stunning views is what makes this race so special. It’s sure an exercise in resilience, humility, camaraderie and celebration of movement for all abilities. I needed to repeat the ‘Never Give Up’ motto a good few times on the last leg of the run, but once I saw the big white tent, the cheering spectators and happy faces of my family, I sprinted all the way! I would love to do another trail event next year so will be certain to come back to Endurancelife!

I am proud to support La Leche League Great Britain by running a marathon on the 25th of April. I am celebrating 70 years of this organisation internationally, 55 years of its work in Great Britain and 15 years of my involvement as a volunteer. La Leche League has accompanied me on my journey as a mother, it gifted me my calling and a career path, I have learned numerous new skills, including becoming a podcaster. I am a better person thanks to the LLL community of mentors, colleagues and friends. Thank you, LLL!

Maria, our LLLGB podcast host and LLL Leader, is going to being running the Pembrokeshire Marathon on 25 April to help raise funds for LLLGB.

Can you sponsor her? The funds Maria raises will help ensure that mothers, parents and babies are supported to meet their own breastfeeding goals with confidence.

Please help her reach her target and help LLLGB!

Beliefs about themselves can be a heavy legacy of childhood for many people. These beliefs are often not supportive or true. We are capable of challenging and reframing them, based on our adult lived experience and the community and support around us. We can look at what we can and truly cannot change and we can set small and meaningful Goals to get us closer to where we want to be and how we want to feel in the near and foreseeable future. We will conclude our 6-week ‘Back to Work’ course reflecting on the above and more. If you’d like to join us on the course starting this Friday 20th of February, book via the link in bio or email me on [email protected] Do you have assumptions about yourself that may be holding you back?

Relationships can undergo a seismic shift with the arrival of the baby. You may have only just gotten used to your new roles as parents, when it all changes again with the added commitments and responsibilities of your paid work. If it feels like it’s going to be a mega juggle and the support resources are limited - it makes sense to work out the jobs, responsibilities and check-points in advance. Added workload can increase tensions and so effective communication becomes key. And at the end of the day, keeping a sense of ‘togetherness’, ‘teamwork’ with a healthy dose of humour can be vital in riding out this intense but fulfilling season of Parenthood. In this session we will put our heads together and draw from our individual experiences as well as needs and discuss how to keep the healthy communication going and widen the support system when it matters most.
Places are remaining on the ‘Back to Work’ course starting on Friday 20th of February, including one free place, fully covered by the ‘pay it forward’ fund. To enquire please email me on [email protected] or book your place via the link in bio. Spread the word to those who may need this!
Have you got a good support system in place?

With the end of maternity leave approaching, most mothers will be facing a big transition. Having spent almost every minute of the week with your little one, you are now going to be away from each other for some of the working hours. While mothers had to integrate paid work or study into their life after having a baby from the beginning of time, planning the logistics and practicalities of this transition can be empowering. Hearing from someone who has successfully transitioned to paid work with two children and navigated sleep routines, breastfeeding as well as setting firm boundaries around work demands, can be reassuring. What is your support system to navigate this next step? What will the working week look like? Who is your role model for a working mother? Join us on the ‘Back to Work’ group coaching course to talk through any questions you may have about this stage and do it in a small group of mothers at the same point of their journey. We will meet online for 1.5 hours every Friday starting this week. You are welcome to have your baby with you 😊. Six sessions of this course are designed to address your unique needs and circumstances, with each session focusing on a theme, common to this transition, whatever your line of work is. Are you planning your return to paid work in the next few months?

Our Values help us define our principles for living. The decisions we make every day are a reflection of our Values. We learn most of our Values from our parents and people around us. Our family Values stem from the Society and Culture we live in. New life experiences, change of environment and meeting new people may change the Values we previously held. Priorities define and drive different stages of our lives. For example, in our 20s our Priority may be discovering ourselves, our interests, our professional direction. In our 30s the career may be our Priority, expanding our social network professionally and looking for a life partner or a community to belong to. The 40s come with self-reflection. Our time with Family may become a Priority… I am staying curious for the next decade and beyond 😉 so the Priorities are basically an on-going re-shuffle of our Top 3-5 Values changing at every life stage. During this session of the ‘Back to Work’ course we discuss and decide on the Boundaries needed to honour the top Values and things that matter to@us in the years of early Parenthood.
Are you living in alignment with your Values and Priorities for this stage of life?

Sometimes resting must be at the top of our ‘to do’ list. However this may look like in this season of your life. A quieter day with your baby, a nap in the middle of the day, a slow walk in the park, a cup of tea uninterrupted or with a friend. Please don’t wait for the body to enforce rest, gift it to yourself. Are you good at taking breaks and scheduling your rest in?

Before we start planning for any big transition on our Motherhood journey (and being away from your baby after months of being together certainly counts as one!) we need to acknowledge our feelings and emotions about it. During this session on the ‘Back to Work’ course we reflect on the Motherhood journey so far, the highs, the lows, the proudest moments and the hardest bits. We celebrate you! We tap into science of Emotions and the super-power of our limbic system, the instincts we did not know we had. We will learn to identify, honour and understand our Emotions to be able to choose our actions and harness our impulsive reactions. We will imagine how we would like the transition back to paid work to look like and start mapping it out together. A good way to start this process of reflection and preparation is to ask yourself: How do I feel about returning to paid work after my maternity leave ends?
