WE’RE TEN YEARS OLD!
November 2021 marks ten years of Ment4 being the leading specialist intensive mentoring team for many of Croydon’s most vulnerable teenagers.
Here’s what we’ve achieved so far:
- 95% positive life change
- 90% family support
- 80% reduced re-offending (documented weekly)
- reduced self-harming
- reduced drug dependency
- reduced school exclusions
- returns to school after significant absences
- fathers and children reconciled
- professional careers started
- mental health support
- song writing and recording
- uninterrupted contact through covid
- meeting the Queen and Deputy Mayor of London
- referrals from local councils, pupil referral units, schools, community groups and families
- community influence through Local Authority board positions, Croydon Youth Partnership, Parental Army and community publicity
And here are our keys to success:
- building trust through tough talk on responsibility and commitment
- having fun
- showing we care through hours and hours of listening (100 hours each)
- endless cafes, courts, and prisons.
