📢 IMPORTANT EYFS SAFEGUARDING UPDATE – SEPTEMBER 2026

From 1 September 2026, important changes to the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) statutory framework come into effect, strengthening safeguarding and safer recruitment across early years provision.

At The Relief Group, safeguarding is at the heart of the childcare support we provide, and we are ensuring that our practices continue to reflect current statutory requirements.

🔐 Key changes include: • Strengthened DBS and Children’s Barred List requirements for those carrying out regulated activity
• Tighter requirements around pre-employment safeguarding checks
• Greater responsibility for staff to disclose information that could affect their suitability to work with children
• Strengthened safer-sleep requirements
• Changes to Ofsted safeguarding notification requirements
• New expectations around early-years screen-use guidance

These changes are an important reminder that safeguarding is everyone’s responsibility.

As we move into the new term, we’ll continue reviewing our procedures, refreshing staff knowledge and ensuring the children and families we support receive a safe, professional and high-quality service. 💚
