Little Apples Childcare Croydon Established in 2012. Little Apples Day Nursery provides day care for children under 5 years. We are open between 7:30 and 18:00.

🌈 Little hands, lots of concentration. 🌈

Today, the children have been busy sorting colourful beads using tongs — carefully picking, choosing and placing each one into its matching colour.

Activities like this are a simple but purposeful way to support fine motor development, helping children build hand strength, coordination, control and precision.
Using the tongs also encourages pincer grip and hand-eye coordination, while giving the children plenty of opportunity to concentrate, make choices and work things out for themselves. 🤍

These little movements are important building blocks for future skills such as mark-making and writing. ✏️
Sometimes, a simple activity can be full of learning.

🍂 Muddy hands, curious minds and a little bit of autumn magic. 🍁

Today, we started outside in the mud kitchen, where mud, leaves and natural treasures became the ingredients for all sorts of creations. 🌿🤎

Then we headed inside to investigate our sensory tray, searching for bugs amongst the sand and coloured rice, digging, scooping and discovering what we could find. 🐛

No set outcome, no right or wrong — just time to explore, use our imaginations and get stuck in.

And sometimes, that’s where some of the best learning happens. 🤎

👀 They might think they’re just playing… but they’re learning for life. 🍎

At Little Apples, we know that some of the simplest activities can help children practise the skills they’ll use every day.

Pouring, scooping, spreading, cutting, pulling, opening and brushing might look like ordinary play — but they’re also opportunities for children to practise doing things for themselves.

We want to give our children the time, space and encouragement to have a go, make mistakes, try again and gradually become more independent. 🤍

Because sometimes, the little things they practise today are the things that help them do more for themselves tomorrow.

Why do we have animals at Little Apples? 🐰🐣🐌

We believe that caring for and spending time with animals gives children opportunities to learn some of life’s most important lessons — kindness, gentleness, empathy and respect for living things. 🤍

From our rabbits and chicks to our African land snails, our children have opportunities to observe, interact with and care for animals as part of everyday life at Little Apples.

And sometimes we get to welcome some very special animal visitors too! 🐾 Our session with Ranger Stu gave the children the chance to get up close with animals they might not otherwise have the opportunity to meet.

These experiences encourage children to be curious, ask questions, develop confidence and begin to understand that animals have needs, feelings and lives of their own. 🌱

Because learning to care for something else starts with learning to be gentle. 🤍

🌳 What if a walk in the woods was actually a classroom? 🌳

At Little Apples, our Woodland Sessions give children the chance to learn in a completely different environment — where curiosity leads the way and there’s something new to discover around every corner. 🌿

From exploring the natural world and getting wonderfully muddy, to building confidence, developing independence and enjoying time together, these experiences give children the freedom to explore, discover and learn through doing. 🤍

Sometimes the best learning happens when children don’t even realise they’re learning.

🧪 Potion making at Little Apples! ✨

Our little explorers have been busy mixing, pouring, scooping and creating their very own magical potions! 🪄

With a little imagination and a lot of messy fun, the children were encouraged to experiment with colours, textures and different ingredients, making choices and seeing what happened when everything came together.

And, of course, no potion-making session would be complete without getting very, very messy! 😂

Yes, we’re a nursery — but there’s a lot more going on than you might think!

From Woodland Sessions and Spanish to cooking, supervised toothbrushing, caring for animals, sensory sessions and trips out into our local community, we love giving our little explorers opportunities to learn, discover and experience new things every day. 🌱

🌊 A little bit of ocean-inspired chaos! 🐚

As part of our Under the Sea theme, our little explorers have been getting stuck into sensory play — exploring sea life, water and different textures while learning about the importance of keeping our oceans clean. 🌍♻️

We’ve been talking about plastic pollution, exploring what belongs in our oceans and what doesn’t, and thinking about the little things we can all do to help protect the world around us.

Through hands-on, imaginative play, big ideas can become something children can see, explore and understand. 🌊💙

We’re inspired by the work of and their Plastic Free Schools programme, which helps children learn about plastic pollution and take positive action to protect our oceans and environment. 🌱

Our little explorers have been getting hands-on with cooking, preparing and tasting their way through a new food experience. 👩‍🍳

From mixing ingredients to scooping and serving, and enjoying their creations, these experiences give children the opportunity to develop independence, confidence and practical life skills — all while discovering new tastes, textures and cultures. 🌱

We love creating opportunities for children to learn by doing, getting involved from start to finish and having plenty of fun along the way.
