Today, we're saying a very big thank you to our City Skills Coaches. 💙

Every day, they help our apprentices learn new skills, build confidence and put their learning into practice.

They share their knowledge, ask the questions that make people think, offer support when it's needed and celebrate progress along the way.

To all of our Coaches, thank you for everything you do.

Your best employee wants to progress.

They're performing brilliantly, they're ready for their next step, but there isn't currently a more senior role available.

So what do you do?

A) Wait for a suitable vacancy to arise
B) Create a new role for them
C) Explore opportunities in another team or department
D) Agree a development and progression plan together

There isn't necessarily one right answer.

The challenge is making sure that a lack of immediate promotion doesn't become a lack of opportunity.

Learning doesn't always have to happen in a classroom.

Online learning gives people the opportunity to develop new knowledge and skills wherever they are, while fitting learning around work and everyday commitments.

But the most valuable learning isn't just about completing a course.

It's about taking what you've learned and putting it into practice.
