This weeks theme is International Kids Inventor Day and today we used a whole bunch of recycled materials to create our very own nursery robot ๐Ÿค– with 1:1 play we was able to work together to create the different parts of our robot. We stuck foil to the head of the box and both patted it down and added strips of paper to create a pattern on the head. For the body we used recycled brown paper to cover the body and used the rainbow ๐ŸŒˆ coloured pens to colour in his body and then to finish him off he wired him in with pipe cleaners to bring him to life. Added the final touches of his eyes, mouth and feet aannnddd โ€ฆโ€ฆ. VOILA!!! ๐Ÿ˜˜ our very own Robert Robot!!!

This Weeks Theme: The Three Little Pigs ๐Ÿท In our imagination tray today we recreated the houses of the 3 little pigs with straw, ๐ŸŒพ sticks ๐Ÿชต and bricks ๐Ÿงฑ and we hid the pigs within the straw to try and find where they were hiding. The straw was a new texture for us in the sensory development and after a few repetitions we felt how dry it was and sprinkled it around (and on us ๐Ÿ™ˆ)with our fingers. Piggles the pig was very hungry today ๐Ÿ˜‹ and wanted to be fed so we took turns in feeding him pink balls. Today was a great way to explore sensory stimulation and fine motor skills to aid towards learning to find the pigs, the texture of the hay, putting the balls inside the mouth and learning the sounds of a pig. During chill down time we read the story of the 3 little pigs and practiced our blowing to blow the houses down! ๐Ÿ’จ

Rainbowโ€™s Home Nursery would like to wish everyone a very Merry Christmas & A Happy New Year 2023!! I hope your Christmas is full of Happiness, Love, Joy and Family. Remembering the time of year with the birth of Jesus Christ who teaches us that it isnโ€™t about money, gifts or what you have that others donโ€™t. Itโ€™s about loving one another, sharing, consideration, doing something for someone in need, being a family and not just by blood and most importantly being thankful. Sending blessing and love to you all!! Will see you all in 2023!

What does every Christmas Nursery needโ€ฆโ€ฆA Hot Chocolate Station!!! ๐Ÿซ๐Ÿฅ› We had such an amazing day with our hot chocolate station that kept us entertained all day!! With a mixture of utensils, coco pops for the chocolate, icing sugar and of course Marshmallows! ๐Ÿก we created our own mixture of hot chocolate making them sugar and sweet ๐Ÿ˜‹ We really enjoyed feeling the different textures of each ingredient and of course having a little taste here and there! We had so much fun that we started to look like snowmen ourselves being covered in icing sugar ๐Ÿ™ˆ but more mess means only 1 thing FUN MESS! Definitely something to do with the younger children as a sensory play activity or an activity where children can create their own hot chocolate mixture to drink later!

Frosty the snowman!โ˜ƒ๏ธโ›„๏ธToday was a brrrrrr-illiant way to learn about winter and what better way to do it than to bring our friend Frosty into the nursery! ๐Ÿ˜†๐Ÿฅถ We had a lot of fun playing with the snow and the snowballs and used a variety of utensils to play with the snow. We was able to count the snowballs and use the snow as an ingredient in our kitchen pots to mix and what an absolute amazing way to end the dayโ€ฆโ€ฆ by throwing it in the air and making it snow inside!!!! ๐ŸŒจ๏ธโ„๏ธMinus the freeze ๐Ÿ˜‚) My hoover noo-noo had his work cut out for him today haha

Today we did the Remembrance Poppy theme in honour of those that lost their lives in the war, fighting to save our country. Using our colour rice in the colours to represent each remembrance. Red for the soldiers, green for those who lost their lives on land, blue for those who lost their lives at sea and purple for the animals that lost their lives in battle. Using our shaped cutters which were shaped into some of the things that may have been found in the war we used them to make shapes in the rice. We also used different tools to pick the rice up and put it into a bowl and got our hands stuck in to feel the texture between our fingers. Lest we forget! ๐Ÿซก๐ŸŒน ๐ŸŒน

We had such a great day as we visited the Jurassic Park Exhibition!!!!๐Ÿฆ•๐Ÿฆ– we got to get up close and personal with a variety of dinosaurs, starting off with a simulation of a boat ride over to Isla Sorna, explore un-hatched eggs and scan what dinosaur was inside, come face to face with 3 Raptors Charlie, Echo and Delta and see a live performance of Blue! We also got to see feeding time for the Indominus Rex and escaped the attack of the ultimate T-Rex!!! Thankfully we made it out of there alive and went home with some really cool souvenirs and pictures!!! Definitely one to take all those dinosaur lovers to!!

Half-Term Fun!! We visited the Spooky decorated Godstone Farm ๐Ÿ‘ป ๐ŸŽƒ The sun was shining and the animals were bright eyed and bushy tailed ๐Ÿท๐Ÿฐ๐Ÿ”We had such a great day seeing the animals, feeding them and stroking them. We learnt the sounds they make and even had them speak back to us!!

๐Ÿงš๐Ÿผโ€โ™€๏ธ Fairy House! ๐Ÿงš๐Ÿผโ€โ™€๏ธToday in Rainbowโ€™s Home Nursery we had a few new additions!! We had our very own Fairy play house and Dolly our new nursery baby that we can look after and walk around in her new pram! ๐Ÿ‘ถ๐Ÿป we absolutely loved our Fairy house and enjoyed looking out the window and seeing the โ€œdoโ€ (dog) ๐ŸถWe brought Dolly into the house where we gave her cuddles and her milk and made sure we pat her on the back to make sure she burped. Having the most basic cardboard box house is an amazing thing for a child. Just having that excitement to be in their own little house where they can shut the doors and windows and bring their own toys and imagination into creates a whole new world of play! ๐ŸŒ cardboard boxes ๐Ÿ“ฆ are the best thing ever in the world of play! You can create the best fort ๐Ÿฐ , spaceships ๐Ÿš€ , car ๐Ÿš—, tunnel and so much more. Yes to us their boxes and usually we get the odd Amazon package in them ๐Ÿ˜‚ but to a child they can become more than what we see it to be. Encouraging their world and their imagination opens up a brand new door in their development and enables the child to grow in confidence and excitement that just because we know it to be a box doesnโ€™t mean it wrong when they think itโ€™s a treasure box ๐Ÿ’ฐ

๐ŸŒˆ Rainbow Spaghetti & independent play ๐ŸŒˆ Today we had Rainbow Spaghetti in our imagination tray which opened a new world of texture and play. We was a bit hesitant at first to touch and when we did we wasnโ€™t very keen to play. With the support to break down the new texture and to create confidence we started of by only touching and holding one piece. It wasnโ€™t a texture we felt happy to touch but we tried! Not all textures will be something young children like to touch, there are many different reasons which could be that itโ€™s hot/cold, wet/dry, sticky, too rough, too messy or just something they arenโ€™t too comfortable having in their hands and itโ€™s important to show that it is ok! What they may not like today could be something they love next week. With encouragement, support and praise the child can feel confident in knowing their own feelings and senses. This will enable a way for the child to understand that if something doesnโ€™t make them comfortable it is ok and when they are ready to try again they may do so but in small easy steps. We spent some time exploring some of the other toys in the nursery, our favourite being the spinning top. Just 4 weeks ago we was learning that to push the top it made the balls inside spin around, now we are confidently doing it ourself and showing understanding that when we push the button on the top the inside spins around.

๐Ÿ The Gruffalo ๐ŸToday we had a Gruffalo themed tuff tray! We had a mixture of coloured rice, paper autumn leaves and lollipop stick cut outs of the characters in the story. We enjoyed putting our fingers through the rice and having it slip through our fingers and collecting as many leaves as our hands could hold. We also spent the afternoon watching the Gruffalo film and using the character sticks to mimic the story being told. This offers a sensory play and use of fine motor skills. We even learned and said โ€˜treeโ€™ ๐ŸŒฒ

๐ŸŒˆ Rainbow Fizz ๐ŸŒˆ Itโ€™s Friday so sensory tray day and today it was water!!! ๐Ÿ’ฆ In todays water we had foam shaped, plastic syringe and an exciting addition of a Rainbow Fizz Bar!!! We enjoyed splashing in the water and had no second thought to get in the tray and sit in the water ๐Ÿ™ˆ (which was warm due to the cold season we are having). The rainbow fizz bar was amazing!!! We put it in the water as as the bar began to break down the Rainbow colours started to stream from it. We used our fingers to mix the colours together and splashed to start making bubbles ๐Ÿซง Water is such a great sensory thing to use as there are so many things a child can do with water. Itโ€™s a great way to encourage their development and confidence with water which can be played with for hours!

Old McDonald had a farm, E I E I O! Farm sensory tray today was absolutely a-moooo-zing ๐Ÿ„ the different textures of the Rice Krispies and grass gave a soft silky feel to a rough crunchy feel. We had fun today crushing the Rice Krispies in our hands and letting it slip through our fingers and of course having a little taste here and there ๐Ÿ˜†๐Ÿ˜‹ We learnt the sounds each animal makes and the names of each animals. We also looked at the different colours and patterns of each animal. It was a baa-rilliant day ๐Ÿ‘

We have a future Van Gogh in the nursery!! ๐ŸŽจ ๐Ÿ‘ฉ๐Ÿผโ€๐ŸŽจ Todays Tuff Tray activity was non-mess painting!! An idea to use for toddlers that may put things in their mouth, itโ€™s a quick and safe way for them to paint with no mess. We started with a piece of card and a canvas in a sealed sandwich bag with different colour drops of paint and used our hands to move the paint around in the bag. I added a little detail to the paper and canvas before painting. CHECK OUT THE PROGRESS OF HOW IT TURNED OUT ๐Ÿคฉ

Itโ€™s FRIDAY so that means 1 thing!!!! Sensory Messy Play Day!!! ๐Ÿ˜๐Ÿ˜๐Ÿ˜ Today in our nursery we had a range of different textures, colours and sound making bits. The absolute hit of the day was the orange and green jelly!!! We wasnโ€™t sure at first with the cold texture of it so started out poking it and of course having a little taste ๐Ÿ˜‹ we then hit it and felt it in between our fingers. And before long we was grabbing it and submerging our hands in it and of course still eating it ๐Ÿ™ˆ in the end we had more on ourselves than in the tray ๐Ÿ˜‚ it is a great activity for young children to feel the different stages of texture within the jelly from cold, solid, chunky, slimy, wet and of course yummy! Itโ€™s safe for them to use and eat and is a great way for them to get their hands stuck in and create all the amazing mess!

We have a Birthday Celebration in the nursery today!!! So what better way to create a birthday themed day!!! And with a birthday what is the one thing children look forward toโ€ฆโ€ฆโ€ฆPRESENTS!!!! ๐ŸŽ wrapped a few recycled items today for us to unwrap and added a bit of shiny tinsel with the addition of balloons ๐ŸŽˆ A great day of fun, hand-eye co-ordination, textures and understanding.

๐ŸŒˆ Rainbow Rice Sensory Day ๐ŸŒˆ

Today with homemade Rainbow coloured rice it enable us to open our imaginations to the texture and sound of rainbow rice. We played with the rice using different tools such as spoons, lollipop sticks, funnels and cutting shapes. A great activity that was played with for hours and as the colours all came together we became focused on trying to pick out individual colours.

A great activity for children to play with for hours and to use different methods and techniques to play with the rice.

Once the rice has been mixed and the day is over itโ€™s a great way to add into empty bottles and use as a Rainbow Maraca!! ๐ŸŽถ

Fine Motor Skills Day and Sensory Play ๐Ÿ˜ Today was set up with a variety of toys that encourage Fine Motor Skills in young children. My favourite out of the activities was the hedgehog ๐Ÿฆ” the pegs are removed and can be placed back in. In the morning we was only at the stage of taking out the pegs and playing with them but by this afternoon we was managing to put them back into the holes ๐Ÿคฉ With repetitions in a fun and exciting way it gives children the chance to see the activity from different angles until eventually they work out how it works. If the afternoon we did some Cream-ating with whipped cream and food colouring to create some amazing artwork ๐ŸŽจ I think we ended up with more cream on ourselves than the paper but hey! Messy play is the best play!

๐ŸŒŠ๐Ÿฌ๐ŸฆˆUnder the Sea ๐Ÿ ๐Ÿก๐ŸŒŠ Sensory day today!! And today was an under the sea theme filled with a range of different sea creatures and coral. With a slight drop of washing up liquid we were able to create bubbles and learn that by swirling our hands and wiggling our fingers in the water we could create more bubbles. It was an amazing learning curve to understand that water can feel cold and can make us wet. The sensory feeling of the water between our hands and even today our toes ๐Ÿ˜† can offer a soothing and relaxing experience. Feeling the difference with the sea creatures being dry and coarse to wet and smooth and slipping out of our hands

A mixture of Music Day and Exploration! Such a great morning make music with many different toys!! Guitar, piano, drums and a xylophone ๐ŸŽถ With the rainbow coloured balls I hid an amount of plastic eggs to encourage eye co-ordination skills and recognise the difference between a ball and an egg. A great day and ended with sensory play of fake grass and farm animals ๐Ÿฎ๐Ÿท๐Ÿ”

Summer Holiday Club has begun!!! First trip of the holiday โ€ฆ. !! What a day we had! The sun was shining and the atmosphere was exciting and curious. The amount of figures and statues all made of Lego was mind blowing! The detail and time it took to create these amazing displays made the experience surreal!!! It opened our minds that nothing is impossible when it comes to creating something with our imagination. The lion hybrid was a design done by a young child with some designs made by child aged 9! With anything is possible! We also had the opportunity to create our own mythical creature and sea creature for it to be displayed on the screen!

We travelled the world today!! Not literally ๐Ÿคฃ but in Legoworld! During our trip to we took a walk around the LegoCity to see the reality and hard work of creating our very own iconic buildings and tourist spots in Lego form in a miniature version. As we journeyed around we visited London, NASA, Australia, Las Vegas, New York, China, India and France. The detail in every building was immaculate and not 1 thing was missed. Even the animatronics of the parade outside Buckingham Palace and the movement of the boats made the scene so very familiar. We learned about the iconic building in each country and the names of them all, we also identified the buildings we were familiar with in our own city which we visited in the last half term.

Then into the polar ice cap of the North Pole to see the penguins! We learnt a lot about each fish and where they live and the weird and peculiar names. We even got to meet Nemo and Finding Dory! Such a great day and experience!

We had an amazing visit today to the Natural History Museum, London! We got to get up close and personal with some Dinosaurs ๐Ÿฆ– and some animals of the Wild! We got closer than we would ever get and it was such an experience to see the dinosaurs and animals in their natural form and learn about the different time periods they lived in, what kinds of things they ate, their size related to our everyday objects and the different looks they had over the millions of years Mother Nature has been here.

What a great way to learn and to be able to see, touch and feel some of the dinosaurs that have been gone from our planet for millions of years! ๐Ÿคฉ we even got the opportunity to see a Tyrannosaurus Rex moving and growling just like it would have done all those years ago!

We was even lucky to get the chance to see the time travel clock that is shown in Andys Dinosaur Adventure on CBeebies!!!

An Easter trip to Godstone Farm today!

We took a walk around dinosaur trail and named all the dinosaurs ๐Ÿฆ• and was able to tell what colour they was and whether they was big or small and what roar they make!

Took a trip into the barn to feed the sheep and see all the new little lambs ๐Ÿ‘ born over the spring month. We was also lucky enough to see 7 piglets ๐Ÿท with their mum and take part in feeding time for the pigs ๐Ÿ–

We visited the petting den where there was chicks, snails, tortoise and turtle and my favourite chipmunks! We even got the chance to hold the turtle and feel how heavy he was and how rough his skin was. We learned his mouth is called a beak.
