This weeks theme is International Kids Inventor Day and today we used a whole bunch of recycled materials to create our very own nursery robot 🤖 with 1:1 play we was able to work together to create the different parts of our robot. We stuck foil to the head of the box and both patted it down and added strips of paper to create a pattern on the head. For the body we used recycled brown paper to cover the body and used the rainbow 🌈 coloured pens to colour in his body and then to finish him off he wired him in with pipe cleaners to bring him to life. Added the final touches of his eyes, mouth and feet aannnddd ……. VOILA!!! 😘 our very own Robert Robot!!!

This Weeks Theme: The Three Little Pigs 🐷 In our imagination tray today we recreated the houses of the 3 little pigs with straw, 🌾 sticks 🪵 and bricks 🧱 and we hid the pigs within the straw to try and find where they were hiding. The straw was a new texture for us in the sensory development and after a few repetitions we felt how dry it was and sprinkled it around (and on us 🙈)with our fingers. Piggles the pig was very hungry today 😋 and wanted to be fed so we took turns in feeding him pink balls. Today was a great way to explore sensory stimulation and fine motor skills to aid towards learning to find the pigs, the texture of the hay, putting the balls inside the mouth and learning the sounds of a pig. During chill down time we read the story of the 3 little pigs and practiced our blowing to blow the houses down! 💨

Rainbow’s Home Nursery would like to wish everyone a very Merry Christmas & A Happy New Year 2023!! I hope your Christmas is full of Happiness, Love, Joy and Family. Remembering the time of year with the birth of Jesus Christ who teaches us that it isn’t about money, gifts or what you have that others don’t. It’s about loving one another, sharing, consideration, doing something for someone in need, being a family and not just by blood and most importantly being thankful. Sending blessing and love to you all!! Will see you all in 2023!

What does every Christmas Nursery need……A Hot Chocolate Station!!! 🍫🥛 We had such an amazing day with our hot chocolate station that kept us entertained all day!! With a mixture of utensils, coco pops for the chocolate, icing sugar and of course Marshmallows! 🍡 we created our own mixture of hot chocolate making them sugar and sweet 😋 We really enjoyed feeling the different textures of each ingredient and of course having a little taste here and there! We had so much fun that we started to look like snowmen ourselves being covered in icing sugar 🙈 but more mess means only 1 thing FUN MESS! Definitely something to do with the younger children as a sensory play activity or an activity where children can create their own hot chocolate mixture to drink later!

Frosty the snowman!☃️⛄️Today was a brrrrrr-illiant way to learn about winter and what better way to do it than to bring our friend Frosty into the nursery! 😆🥶 We had a lot of fun playing with the snow and the snowballs and used a variety of utensils to play with the snow. We was able to count the snowballs and use the snow as an ingredient in our kitchen pots to mix and what an absolute amazing way to end the day…… by throwing it in the air and making it snow inside!!!! 🌨️❄️Minus the freeze 😂) My hoover noo-noo had his work cut out for him today haha

Today we did the Remembrance Poppy theme in honour of those that lost their lives in the war, fighting to save our country. Using our colour rice in the colours to represent each remembrance. Red for the soldiers, green for those who lost their lives on land, blue for those who lost their lives at sea and purple for the animals that lost their lives in battle. Using our shaped cutters which were shaped into some of the things that may have been found in the war we used them to make shapes in the rice. We also used different tools to pick the rice up and put it into a bowl and got our hands stuck in to feel the texture between our fingers. Lest we forget! 🫡🌹 🌹

We had such a great day as we visited the Jurassic Park Exhibition!!!!🦕🦖 we got to get up close and personal with a variety of dinosaurs, starting off with a simulation of a boat ride over to Isla Sorna, explore un-hatched eggs and scan what dinosaur was inside, come face to face with 3 Raptors Charlie, Echo and Delta and see a live performance of Blue! We also got to see feeding time for the Indominus Rex and escaped the attack of the ultimate T-Rex!!! Thankfully we made it out of there alive and went home with some really cool souvenirs and pictures!!! Definitely one to take all those dinosaur lovers to!!

🧚🏼‍♀️ Fairy House! 🧚🏼‍♀️Today in Rainbow’s Home Nursery we had a few new additions!! We had our very own Fairy play house and Dolly our new nursery baby that we can look after and walk around in her new pram! 👶🏻 we absolutely loved our Fairy house and enjoyed looking out the window and seeing the “do” (dog) 🐶We brought Dolly into the house where we gave her cuddles and her milk and made sure we pat her on the back to make sure she burped. Having the most basic cardboard box house is an amazing thing for a child. Just having that excitement to be in their own little house where they can shut the doors and windows and bring their own toys and imagination into creates a whole new world of play! 🌍 cardboard boxes 📦 are the best thing ever in the world of play! You can create the best fort 🏰 , spaceships 🚀 , car 🚗, tunnel and so much more. Yes to us their boxes and usually we get the odd Amazon package in them 😂 but to a child they can become more than what we see it to be. Encouraging their world and their imagination opens up a brand new door in their development and enables the child to grow in confidence and excitement that just because we know it to be a box doesn’t mean it wrong when they think it’s a treasure box 💰

🌈 Rainbow Spaghetti & independent play 🌈 Today we had Rainbow Spaghetti in our imagination tray which opened a new world of texture and play. We was a bit hesitant at first to touch and when we did we wasn’t very keen to play. With the support to break down the new texture and to create confidence we started of by only touching and holding one piece. It wasn’t a texture we felt happy to touch but we tried! Not all textures will be something young children like to touch, there are many different reasons which could be that it’s hot/cold, wet/dry, sticky, too rough, too messy or just something they aren’t too comfortable having in their hands and it’s important to show that it is ok! What they may not like today could be something they love next week. With encouragement, support and praise the child can feel confident in knowing their own feelings and senses. This will enable a way for the child to understand that if something doesn’t make them comfortable it is ok and when they are ready to try again they may do so but in small easy steps. We spent some time exploring some of the other toys in the nursery, our favourite being the spinning top. Just 4 weeks ago we was learning that to push the top it made the balls inside spin around, now we are confidently doing it ourself and showing understanding that when we push the button on the top the inside spins around.

🍁 The Gruffalo 🍁Today we had a Gruffalo themed tuff tray! We had a mixture of coloured rice, paper autumn leaves and lollipop stick cut outs of the characters in the story. We enjoyed putting our fingers through the rice and having it slip through our fingers and collecting as many leaves as our hands could hold. We also spent the afternoon watching the Gruffalo film and using the character sticks to mimic the story being told. This offers a sensory play and use of fine motor skills. We even learned and said ‘tree’ 🌲
