The Musical Bumps annual charity Christmas party last Saturday afternoon was a great SUCCESS!

* We raised £438.00 for Croydon Home-Start through ticket sales plus a few donations
* Families contributed a huge amount of food and other essentials for families in need
* 120 people danced and sang the Musical Bumps Christmas repertoire, finishing with a party feast
* Special thanks to my Dream Team of helpers who ensured that everything ran smoothly on the day, including the ‘elf’ siblings. Thank you to St Mildred’s for allowing us to use the large hall and thank you to Pebble for donating the processing fees for all the party bookings.

Finally, I hope everyone has a wonderful Christmas – whether it’s at home or away, with just your close family or a cast of hundreds!

With only 2 days to go, I am getting very excited about the Musical Bumps charity party this year. It promises to be a fun-filled afternoon of singing, feasting and sharing Christmas joy!

The clocks have changed and the nights are drawing in. So come and join a Musical Bumps class with your baby, toddler or pre-schooler and make the most of the daylight hours. Songs, puppets, props and percussion instruments make every class a joyful, fun session with lots of learning. Weekday classes are age-specific ensuring every child learns at their level whilst the Saturday classes are fun, lively sessions for all ages 1-4 years. There are still a few spaces in some classes and if you are new to Musical Bumps, a trial session is only £5.00. We meet in St Mildred's in a lovely warm space with plenty of free parking, bus stops and the tram close by. Meet new parents and carers, share singing with your child and see them learn as they play. Book your trial place here!

When musical foundations are laid early on, anything can happen…..
Huge congratulations to Holly who, at the age of 11, has made her professional debut at the English National Opera, playing Flora in Benjamin Britten’s challenging work, ‘The Turn of the Screw’. Holly started her Musical Bumps journey as a 4 month old baby, graduating from musicianship classes at the age of 8. Singing lessons followed and a star was born!!

🎶 ✨How can music and singing help regulate children’s emotions? 🎶✨

Music and singing play a crucial role in helping children manage their emotions. Studies show that when children listen to or sing songs, their brains release endorphins and oxytocin, promoting feelings of happiness and security. Engaging with music can also lower cortisol levels, helping to reduce stress and calm tempers. Singing, in particular, encourages deep breathing and activates the vagus nerve, which supports emotional regulation and relaxation. These responses make music and singing effective tools for children to release negative feelings and build emotional resilience.

Come and join a fun singing class with your child from the comfort of your own home. This 40 minute session is held every Saturday at 1pm and families will log in using the Zoom app 💻🎶

Whether you are a working parent, weekend parent, fulltime or part-time parent or carer of a young child, the new Musical Bumps Zoom session on Saturdays is for you!

Sing, dance and clap along in your own space while Maree from Musical Bumps leads the class. Instructions, reminders and things to bring to the session will be emailed to interested families each Friday.

👅 Encouraging babies to stick their tongues out is a great thing! It’s one of the first things they can copy (making it a fun game!), and it’s good for figuring out how to use the muscles they need for forming sounds and eventually talking. That’s why we do a lot of it in class with songs like Little Green Frog and Pease Pudding Hot! 🐸🥣

🎼 Weekday classes resume on Thursday and Friday this week at St Mildred's in Addiscombe and some classes still have spaces.
