πŸ“šβœ¨ A truly magical day at the British Library! Our Year 4 and Year 5 pupils had the honour of meeting Her Majesty Queen Camilla during the first royal visit to the library in nine years. We couldn't be prouder of how confidently and respectfully they represented our school. πŸ‘‘πŸ“–β€οΈ

πŸ“šβœ¨ Six children from Year 4 and Year 5 were invited to the British Library’s Fairy Tales exhibition as part of the National Year of Reading celebrations. During the event, Her Majesty Queen Camilla joined the children for storytelling, and our pupils represented the school brilliantly, speaking with confidence and helping to create a story together. We were especially honoured to be the only school to meet Queen Camilla at the event and to be part of the first royal visit to the British Library in nine years. To top off an unforgettable day, the children also met Paddington Bear and enjoyed plenty of hugs and smiles! πŸ“šπŸ‘‘πŸ»βœ¨

This week, Rowdown embraced the great outdoors for a fantastic Outdoor Learning Day! πŸŒΏβ˜€οΈ

Every class took their regular lessons outside, proving that learning can happen anywhere. From maths on the playground to writing inspired by nature and science investigations in the fresh air, the children showed brilliant enthusiasm, teamwork and creativity throughout the day.

Outdoor learning encourages curiosity, communication and wellbeing, and it was wonderful to see the children so engaged and excited in a different learning environment. A huge thank you to all staff for making the day such a success!

This morning, Pete, our attendance mascot, was out in the playground encouraging and promoting good attendance and punctuality! ⭐⏰
He loved meeting the children, handing out smiles and stickers to those who arrived on time, and helping to create a fun and positive start to the day for everyone. πŸ˜ŠπŸŽ‰
Pete will be back again next week to congratulate children with good attendance. Keep up the fantastic effort! πŸ‘πŸ“š

Year 5 had a fantastic visit to the Horniman Museum on Friday to hook them into their new history topic β€” Ancient Egypt!

The children took part in a workshop where they explored and handled Ancient Egyptian artefacts, learning how historians discover clues from the past. They showed great curiosity and represented the school brilliantly throughout the day.

A fantastic ongoing effort from a dedicated group of Year 6 boys, who continue to work hard in our outdoor area to help develop a forest school space for future generations of Rowdown children to enjoy. 🌱
From planting trees to improving the grounds, their teamwork and commitment are creating a lasting legacy for the school community. Their hard work will provide a special space for children to learn, explore and connect with nature for years to come. 🌳

Last week in Year 5, we brought maths to life by exploring area and perimeter in a hands-on way! The children loved working it out directly on the tables, sharing ideas and explaining their thinking. Great teamwork, great reasoning, and lots of enthusiasm all round.
