Have you lost a much loved Igglepiggle? He was found on the road last week outside school in a sorry state, looking very miserable and wet.

He has had a spruce up and is feeling much happier now and is ready and waiting in the office to be reunited with his family!

Please get in touch if he is yours, as we would love for him to go back home!

Delayed opening - Friday 9th January

Dear families,

I hope you are all safe and well.

Whilst we know that the full force of Storm Goretti is expected to leave our area towards midnight tonight, we have been listening closely to local news and intel and have made a decision to delay the opening of our school to 10am on Friday 9th January. This is to allow us time to safely inspect our school site for any damage or safety concern, as well as to gauge how safe it will be for both pupils and staff to travel to school. We are aware that, across Cornwall there has already been considerable damage caused, with many homes and businesses without power, and a number of trees fallen and blocking roads. We want to make sure that it is entirely safe to do so, before physically opening the school site to pupils and staff. We are very hopeful that we will be able to open at 10am tomorrow, however if this changes and we need to keep the school closed for a longer period we will, of course, keep you updated.

Due to adverse weather conditions moving into Cornwall this afternoon from Storm Goretti including an Amber Weather Warning in place with potential wind gusts of up to 100 mph, the Local Authority have written to all schools to recommend that all schools look to close early from 2pm to facilitate children, young people, parents/carers and staff getting home in a timely and safe manner.

We therefore request that, if you are able to collect your child at 2pm please do so. Our school will remain open until usual school closing for any child who's parents/carers are unable to collect, however please do ensure prompt collection by this time so that our staff can travel home safely. This includes the cancellation of all after school clubs and activities, including wraparound care.
We take these highly unusual steps under the advice from the Local Authority and the MET office. Please contact the school if this brings any significant issue for you. Please do travel safely.

Whilst we are planning to open as usual tomorrow with the weather warning currently ending at 11pm, we will communicate via our usual channels if we need to make any further alterations.

After assessing the roads to school this morning, we have made the decision for everyone's safety to close the school today. The roads in and out of Upton Cross are thick with ice.

We look forward to seeing you all tomorrow, sorry for any inconvenience caused.

Due to the weather forecast and the conditions of the roads this afternoon, we have made the decision to open the school tomorrow morning at 10.30am. This is to allow staff and families to arrive safely and to not feel the need to set out when the ice will be at its worst.

We apologise, but there will be no wrap around care in the mornings due to staff arriving later.

Sorry for any inconvenience caused, we will update in the morning if there are any further changes.

On Wednesday all of our children walked down to St Paul's Church for an 'Experience Advent' event.

Everyone had a fantastic time and learned lots about this important and wonderful time of year.

Thank you so much to everyone who helped to bring the story of Advent alive for our children.

Our fantastic Gardening Club runs every Wednesday after school. If you can help them, they are after well rotted horse manure, empty 5 litre water bottles and any plant bulbs that you may have spare.
