What a fantastic event and a brilliant performance by our Year 5 children who have never played this game before. We were resilient and resourceful. Strategic and reactive. As always, I could not be prouder of the children who represented our school with the qualities we expect and value. My last sporting event for Holy Trinity with some of the children I did my first with back in 2022.

What a fantastic morning at Junior Parkrun this morning! Here's a few photos. We met at 8.45 for a warm up then everyone was running by 9. This happens every Sunday morning at Little Stoke Park. Please consider getting involved in a free community event and let us know. We will organise another school meet up there in the Autumn.

Dear Parents and Carers,

Next week is going to be very hot. It is essential that your children come to school in clothing that is appropriate for the hot weather. We suggest PE kits for the week. However not polo shirts. Instead they should wear a plain tshirt. They need to wear closed footwear and definitely not open toed sandals.
Please ensure they have sun hats and have sun cream applied before coming to school. Please also make sure they bring a named water bottle in to school every day. We will ensure there are plenty of opportunities to refill bottles during the day.
We will be adapting lunchtimes so that the children are not out in the sun for a long period.

School caretaker needed!
Are you looking for work? Do you know someone who is and can help?
We need a school caretaker to join our team to open up school in the buildings and make sure that school is ready for the day! Year 4 made some fantastic models this week of different sections of how a river is formed. They had to make an ‘upper section’ a ‘middle section’ or a ‘lower section’. They had to label these and include elements such an oxbow lake or a mountain. As you can see, they created some great models. Please ask if they can explain to you what they have made and some of the technical words they had to include. Well done everyone!

Yesterday we awarded Arts Award Explore certificates to all of the children who took part in the KS2 Arts Award Club and fully completed the tasks.
Arts Award Explore certificates are awarded by Trinity College, London who assess their work to a set of strict standards. We have been a pilot school for running the award in this area, as usually they are run by dedicated Arts centres and we are pleased that so many children took part and were successfully assessed.
Our KS1 course, Arts Award Discover recently completed their work and are awaiting their assessments. Well done everyone!

Earlier this week we heard all about Junior Parkrun. This happens every Sunday morning at Little Stoke Park and Holy Trinity has partnered with Parkrun to encourage children to be more active.
Mrs Dawson encouraged us all to go outside and have fun with our friends whilst keeping fit and healthy. She will meet us at this Parkrun on Sunday 21st June at 8.45am.
All you have to do is get there and be prepared to run, walk, skip your way round the course (plus lots of cheering!). Look out for an email with all the details! https://www.parkrun.org.uk/littlestoke-juniors/

Year 5 have been blind taste testing spaghetti bolognaise sauces this afternoon. Each one was judged on appearance, smell, taste and texture. They were very excited to try them all and had very strong opinions about what they liked and didn't like. Next they are working on customising a basic bolognaise sauce recipe to create one of their own. I can't wait to see what they come up with!
