Yesterday, Year 5 had a truly wonderful day at Wadham School. The children took part in a wide range of engaging, hands-on activities throughout the day. These included investigating different liquids in the science laboratory to determine whether they were acids, neutral or alkalis, as well as learning and practising German phrases in a German café setting, where they were served by Wadham’s Year 9 students.
In addition, the children enjoyed races on the giant inflatables and participated in a World Cup–themed orienteering activity, which gave them the opportunity to explore the school site in an exciting and active way.
We would like to extend our sincere thanks to Wadham School for hosting such a fantastic and enriching experience for our pupils.

Yesterday, pupils from Sycamore Class and Year 6 at Merriott School took part in a local inter-school cricket tournament at Chard Cricket Club, hosted by SASP. Despite the damp weather, the children had a great time playing and supporting one another. It was also the first time they wore our new team tops – well done to everyone who took part!

Yesterday, a group of children from Sycamore Class had the exciting opportunity to join Year 6 pupils from Merriott School and Perrott Hill School to take part in a mock trial.
The trial focused on the issue of fly tipping, with Haselbury and Merriott pupils taking on the roles of the defendant and their legal team. This provided the children with a valuable, real-life insight into how the justice system works and allowed them to develop their speaking, listening and reasoning skills in a practical context.
We are incredibly proud of all the children who took part. They approached the experience with enthusiasm and confidence, and performed their roles brilliantly throughout the trial. Their efforts, teamwork and engagement were a credit to the school.

Catkins created a whole class artwork honouring our beautiful planet.
Hazel class had a focus on 'Sacred Spaces', considering special spaces in our community, and Sycamore made some very thoughtful artworks about their hopes for the future.
They enjoyed painting, drawing and collage to create their fantastic pictures and sculptures which will be on show in the church from the 22nd June until the 26th.
Please do come along and have a look at the children's work, everyone is welcome and the church is open all week.

Sycamore Class had a wonderful morning filled with creativity, teamwork and a sprinkle of flour! The children worked in small groups to make their own rock cakes, showing fantastic cooperation and enthusiasm throughout. The classroom was full of excitement (and a delicious smell!) as everyone supported one another and took pride in their creations.

Catkins class had an amazing day out at Charmouth Heritage Centre on Friday.
The children were thrilled to be on the beach, in the sunshine on such a beautiful day in May.
Years 1 and 2 hunted for fossils amongst the rocks at the far end of the beach and reception children dipped into rockpools to look for tiny creatures caught by the tide.

Key Stage 2 worked incredibly hard to create their own Anglo Saxon village using traditional materials including clay, sticks and moss. They have included a central chiefs house, smaller family houses and fields for the crops and the animals. It looks amazing!
