Good morning from Chester!

The children all slept well last night. They’ve impressed us by stripping their beds and leaving them so respectfully for the centre staff to clean.

We have enjoyed a full-cooked breakfast before settling down to our art activities.

The catering staff even commented this morning on what a wonderful, polite group of children we have.

Lots of smiling faces (many want to stay a second night!). Definitely a lasting memory for them all.

It’s been a fantastic day and Class 9 have managed to stay relatively dry, despite the weather! ☔️😁

We’ve learned lots about life during Roman times at the Deva Roman Experience, including training for being part of the Roman army! 🏛️🏺

We’ve loved using the facilities at the youth hostel and managed to get some time outside together. 🏓🎱⚽️

For dinner, we’ve had Cheeseburgers with fries, followed by sweet waffles and cream! 🍔🍟

Behaviour has been excellent - the children are certainly representing the Berkeley Academy well and making us all very proud. 💙

📍Year 4 Chester Residential- Day 1

Class 10 have had a fantastic first day in Chester.

🗡️After arriving at the Deva Museum, we marched through the city as Roman soldiers with swords and shields. We then learnt about different formations the soldiers used, before trying some out ourselves.

🏛️We explored the museum, learning about what life was like for a Roman living in Britain.

🍽️ We then enjoyed pasta and meatballs or jacket potato for dinner.

📸 Enjoy the photos from today!

📍York 2026- Day 2

🌅 After a good nights sleep and a full English Breakfast, the children walked along the historic York City Walls and completed a treasure hunt inside the Minster!

🚂 Following lunch, we visited the National Railway Museum, where the children were excited to see the locomotives built in Crewe, which now form part of British history!

🍬 A quick detour to York’s famous sweet shop was well received by all, before the children took the weight off their feet on the Shinkansen Bullet Train!

⛈️ The weather finally caught up with us as a powerful thunderstorm sent both classes into shelter! We were thoroughly impressed with the maturity and sensible behaviour by all the children during the inclement weather.

🎬 A long day was finally rewarded with Film Night and some much-needed recreation time, but not before some southern-fried chicken strips, fries and sweet waffles with sauce!

💙Throughout the day, members of the public have continually stopped staff and commented on the excellent behaviour of the children from The Berkeley. They are certainly making us proud during their residential in York! Enjoy the photos!
