🍎 A new school year is nearly upon us.

👩‍🏫 I hope everyone has had a restful break, ready for the year ahead. Summer term was super busy here at school and I really enjoyed being a senior marker on the English Reading SATs during May half term.

📚 My own daughter finished Year 6 and had positive scores on her SATs so we are now getting ready for her next step of education at grammar school.

The fabulous BooksforTopics website has updated their recommended reading books for each primary year group. If you’re unsure which books to buy (from a bookseller of your choice) or borrow from the library, that are age-appropriate and challenging for your child, then here’s the list for you! I’ve used previous lists for my own children and for my classes, so I highly recommend.

I’ll be a Specialist Marker marking the English Reading paper which I’m excited about. The process is super confidential so I’ll have no idea whose paper it is or what part of the country they’re in.

📚A friendly reminder that the Bexley Selection Test opens for registration this year on Tuesday 3rd May for current Year 5 children. You must register your child yourself, this is not done via the school. I’m happy to help if you have any questions!

It looks like all primary school statutory testing is going ahead this year. The last time there was a full complement of testing was during the 2018/19 academic year!

I’m happy to answer any questions about the tests.

Dates this year are as follows:

⭐️ Reception Baseline. Already carried out during the first six years of the academic year.

⭐️ Year 1 Phonics Screening. During the week of Monday 6th June 2022.

⭐️ KS1 SATS (Year 2). Schools to administer these during May 2022.

⭐️ Multiplication Tables Check (Year 4). During the 3 weeks from Monday 9th June 2022

⭐️ KS2 SATS (Year 6). Week commencing Monday 9th May 2022. Schools have to administer each paper on certain dates:

- Monday 9th May. Grammar, Punctuation and Spelling (GPS), Papers 1 and 2.

- Tuesday 10th May. English Reading paper.

- Wednesday 11th May. Maths Paper 1 (Arithmetic) and Maths Paper 2 (Reasoning).

- Thursday 12th May. Maths Paper 3 (Reasoning).

I am a qualified primary school teacher based in the London Borough of Bexley. I have a range of teaching experience from Reception to Year 6 and I hold an Enhanced DBS certificate on the update service.

I am offering tutoring for all primary school year groups, from EYFS to Year 6, including preparation for the Kent Test and the Bexley Selection Test (11+).

Each session is 50 minutes and is currently held online over Zoom.

At the moment, I have limited availability on Fridays (daytime and after school) and and Saturday mornings.
