It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Colin.

Colin was a huge part of Crabbet and played an instrumental role in developing our Hunter Trials into the event that so many of you know and love today. His dedication, support and generosity over the years meant so much to the yard, our liveries and every competitor who came through our gates. We are incredibly grateful for everything he did, and he will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him.

Our heartfelt condolences go to Val and all of Colin’s family and friends at this very difficult time.

On every Hunter Trial day, Colin’s familiar words of, “3, 2, 1… good luck and safe journey,” sent countless competitors on their way. It’s a phrase that will forever remind us of him and the kindness, encouragement and enthusiasm he brought to every event.

Rest in peace, Colin. You will never be forgotten.

Hi everyone,

We hope you and your horses are managing well in the heat and staying as cool as possible.

After careful consideration, and given the current temperatures together with the significant work required to prepare the course, we have made the difficult decision not to run the postponed May Hunter Trials event.

Instead, we will focus our efforts on delivering the best possible experience at our September Hunter Trials, on the 27th

We appreciate your understanding and continued support, and we look forward to welcoming you in September

We are now out of lockdown following a single isolated case of strangles. We are pleased to confirm that all horses are healthy and well.

Anyone who has already entered will automatically have their entry transferred to the September Hunter Trials.

If you would prefer a refund instead, please contact the page and we will arrange this for you.

Thank you for your understanding and continued support. We look forward to seeing you all in September.

Just a little thank you to all our wonderful followers for your continued support. We feel incredibly lucky to still be able to get out and hack around the fields.

This morning, while out riding, I found myself contemplating how we might make use of this fallen tree in the woods… 👀🌳

It is with great regret that, due to an isolated in-house case of strangles, we have taken the careful decision to postpone the Spring Hunter Trials scheduled for Sunday 24th May.

Following expert veterinary guidance, we will announce a new date as soon as we receive the all-clear. We very much look forward to welcoming you then for a day of fun and friendly competition.

🌿 Course Clear-Up Help Needed – Sunday 17th May 🌿

The Sunday before the Hunter Trials, we’ll be clearing debris and getting the course ready, and we’d really appreciate some extra pairs of hands!

🕝 Time: 2:30 pm
⏱️ Duration: Should take around 1–2 hours max
🧤 Please bring: Gloves, and any tools you may have for cutting low-hanging branches. (No problem if you don’t have tools — there will be plenty to do clearing sticks and debris from ground level.)

Many hands make light work, and your help makes a huge difference — we’d love to see you there! 🙌

Thank you so much to everyone who has already reached out and offered to jump judge on the 24th May— we really appreciate your support!

We are still looking for more volunteers, so if you’d like to be part of the day, we’d love to hear from you.

No experience necessary — just bring a chair! It’s a great chance to watch the action out on the course and play an important role in helping the event run smoothly.

If you’re able to help, please drop us a message — whether you can do morning, afternoon, or all day, every bit of help makes a difference.
